Recently, the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi addressed the valedictory function of the 9th World Ayurveda Congress. He also inaugurated three National Ayush Institutes.

About: World Ayurveda Congress (WAC) & Arogya Expo is known to collect feedback, monitor progress and initiate missions accordingly.
- World Ayurveda Congress (WAC) is a platform to connect Ayurveda practitioners, medicine manufacturers, enthusiasts and academicians.
Venue: The 9^th World Ayurveda Congress (WAC) & Arogya Expo is being organized at PANJIM, GOA.
- Having witnessed a highly welcoming response in the previous editions of WAC, Goa promises to be one of the largest congresses thus far.

Participation: The 9th edition of the World Ayurveda Congress (WAC) & Arogya Expo is witnessing the active participation of more than 400 overseas delegates representing more than 40 countries and all states of India.
- There are more than 300 Ayurveda patronized companies in International AROGYA Expo of WAC.
- Individuals and institutions from India and abroad will showcase various programmes related to Ayurveda.

Theme: The theme of the 9th edition of WAC is “Ayurveda for One Health”.
Inauguration of National Ayush Institutes: The three inaugurated National Ayush institutes are-
- All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Goa,
- National Institute of Unani Medicine (NIUM), Ghaziabad and
- National Institute of Homoeopathy (NIH), Delhi.
Importance of National Ayush Institutes:
- Theses National Ayush Institutes will further strengthen research and international collaborations and will also facilitate affordable Ayush services for people.
- Developed at a total cost of about Rs 970 crores, these institutes will increase the intake of students by around 400 along with the addition of about 500 hospital beds.

World Ayurveda Foundation (WAF)

About: Founded in 2011, the World Ayurveda Foundation (WAF) is an initiative by Vijnana Bharati aimed at global propagation of Ayurveda.
Mandate: As part of a larger intellectual movement under the aegis of the Swadeshi Science Movement undertaken by Vijnana Bharati, WAF is a platform that would take Ayurveda to the world for all the benefits mankind can draw from traditional health sciences.
- The objectives of WAF reflect global scope. Propagation and encouragement of all activities – scientific and Ayurveda-related – are the core principles.
Focus Areas: Support to research, health-care programmes through camps, clinics and sanatoriums, documentation, organization of study groups, seminars, exhibitions and knowledge initiatives to popularize Ayurveda in the far corners of the world are the broad latitudes of focus at WAF.
Importance of Ayurveda: Ayurveda as a sector requires the kind of stewardship and voice that genuinely bring out the ethos of Ayurveda in matters that govern policy and planning with State and Central government administration in India and the world over.
- WAF is positioned to provide this much-needed leadership with its wide participation of various stakeholder groups.
