TNPSC Group 2 Exam: Selection Process

Like the TNPSC Group 4 Exam that is conducted in the country, the selection for the TNPSC Group 2 Exam is held in three stages.

  • Preliminary exam (written): Candidates applying for the exam need to appear for the preliminary exam, which is an objective-type written test.
  • Mains exam (written): Candidates qualified in the preliminary exam need to appear for the mains exam, which is a descriptive written test.
  • Interview: The interview will be held for the candidates who wish to appear or as per the cut off set by the Commission.
    Group 2 (Interview Posts): Selection of candidates for vacancies released under Group 2 is done on the basis of the preliminary exam, main written exam, and Interview/Personality Test.

TNPSC Group 2 Exam: Marking Scheme

For TNPSC Prelims Exam
  • The TNPSC Prelims will have 200 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ’s).
  • 175 questions are from the general studies section and the remaining 25 questions from aptitude and mental ability test section.
  • The duration of the TNPSC Prelims Exam is 3 hours of a maximum of 300 marks.
  • The minimum qualifying marks for TNPSC Prelims Exam is 90 out of 300.
For TNPSC Mains Exam

The TNPSC Group 2 Mains Exam Pattern will have two papers: Paper I and Paper II. Both papers will have different qualifying marks and exam duration.

  • TNPSC Group 2 Mains Exam holds utmost importance as the marks secured by the candidates in this Exam is considered for the Final Selection.
  • This will have 2 papers: Paper I and Paper-II.
  • Paper I will be of 100 marks of 1 hour 30 minutes duration.
  • Paper-II will be of 300 marks of 3-hour duration.
  • Answer sheets of the candidates who do not secure minimum qualifying marks in Paper-I will not be considered for the evaluation of Paper-II
  • Minimum 102 and 90 marks required to qualify in group 2 and group 2A main exams respectively.
  • TNPSC Group 2 exam is bilingual that available in both the English and Tamil languages.

NDA Exam Date 2020: UPSC has released the revised dates of the NDA I exam @upsc.gov.in. The National Defence Academy (NDA) Exam is going to conduct on 06th September 2020, which was deferred from 19th April 2020, due to the lockdown in whole country to contain the spread of COVID-19 virus.

NDA 2020 Eligibility Criteria

NDA 2020 Eligibility Criteria includes the following:

Nationality Indian Citizenship | A Subject of Nepal or Bhutan | Candidates who have migrated from Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Burma, East African, Zambia, Uganda, Zaire and Ethiopia, Malawi, etc. are also eligible to apply
Age Limit Criteria Candidates age should be in between 2nd January 2002 & 1st January 2005.
Qualification Candidates must pass 12th class examination from any recognized board.
Subjects Candidates must pass with Physics and Mathematics subjects.
Medical Fitness Candidates should have a medical fitness certificate.

Note: Candidates who are appearing in their 12th class are also eligible to apply.

Candidates appearing in the 11th class exam are not eligible for this examination

Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (I), 2020 as per guidelines are given in Appendix-IV.
A candidate who has resigned or withdrawn on disciplinary grounds from any of the training academies of Armed Forces is not eligible to apply.

NDA Exam Date 2020

The NDA Exam Date 2020 is declared for 06th September 2020, for 145th Course and for the 107th Indian Naval Academy Course(INAC) that commenced from 2nd January 2021. Applicants must note the date and check up on their preparation. Also, the admit card for the exam will be available at least 10 days before the exam. National Defence Academy, NDA Exam 2020 is the joint services academy of the Indian Armed Forces, where cadets of the three services, the Army, the Navy and the Air Force train together before they go on to respective service academies for further pre-commissioning training.

NDA Selection Procedure

NDA Selection involves qualification of the written exam and the SSB interview round.

Psychological Aptitude Test and Intelligence Test are a part of the Services Selection Board(SSB). This is one most important test, that is a tough nut to crack, where the physical exam takes place.

Physical Standards:

Physical Conditioning. Prospective candidates are suggested to keep themselves in good physical condition. They should be able to fulfill the following criteria:

(a) Running: 2.4 km in 15 minutes
(b) Skipping
(c) Pushups & Sit-ups: Minimum 20 each
(d) Chin-ups: Minimum 08
(e) Rope Climbing: 3.4 meters

NDA Height requirements:

For Ground Duty Branch-

The minimum height for entry into ground duty branches- 157.5 cm

Minimum acceptable height for Gorkhas and individuals belonging to North Eastern regions of India and hilly regions of Uttarakhand- (152.5 cm).

In case of candidates from Lakshadweep, the minimum acceptable height can be reduced by 2 cm- (155.5 cm)

NDA form 2020 was available till 28th January 2020. The link was activated on 8th January 2020. Candidates can refer to the eligibility and check relevant details for submission of online form before time.

NDA Form 2020 Fee

  • The NDA Online Form Fee is Rs 100/- either by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of State Bank of India or by using Visa/ MasterCard/ Rupay Credit/ Debit Card.
  • Candidates belonging to SC/ST candidates/Sons of JCOs/NCOs/ORs are exempted from payment of the fee.

UPSC Calendar 2020-21

Attempts 

The candidates are allowed for appearing for the UPSC examination within a restricted period.

  • General candidates are allowed to attempt for six times
  • The OBC candidates are allowed for nine attempts
  • There is no such restriction for the SC and ST candidates

Eligibility Criteria to be fulfilled before appearing the examination – 

  • The candidate should own an Indian citizenship
  • The candidate should be a minimum of 21 years age and a maximum of 32 years of age
  • In case the candidate has migrated from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Uganda, Kenya etc, he or she has to be from an Indian origin
  • There is age relaxation for the backward candidates. The SCand ST candidates get 5 years of age relaxation whereas the OBCs get 3 years
  • Ex-serviceman of commissioned personnel or defense service officers owe five and three years of age relaxation respectively
  • The candidates must hold a graduate degree from any recognized university of India

Syllabus of Civil Services Examination :

Prelims – 200 marks for each paper
Preliminary examination of civil services are conducted in two phases and is generally objective phases

Paper 1 – General Studies 1 (100 Questions/200 marks /2 hours – Negative marking on wrong answers)
Paper 2 – CSAT (80 Questions / 200 Marks /2 hours- Negative marking on wrong answer)

General studies paper

    1. Current events of national and international importance
    2. Syllabus of History of India and the heroes of ancient India, Indian national movement
    3. Indian and World Geography- it includes every aspect of geography including physical, social, economic geography across the world
    4. Indian Politics and governance and its history – right from the Indian constitution to our political system that covers the areas of Panchayati raj, public policy, Rights issues, etc.
    5. Economic and social development of India as well as the world economy– the economic history of India as well as world history of economic and its interrelations. The important topics that should be highlighted include sustainable development, poverty, inclusion, demographics, social sector initiatives etc.
    6. General issues regarding the current situation of environmental ecology, our bio-diversity and climate change. It does not require subject specialised studies. An overview of the subject and clear concepts can do well.
    7. General Science

UPSC CSAT Syllabus –

  1. Comprehension skills
  2. Interpersonal skills including communication skills and management
  3. Logical reasoning and analytical ability
  4. Decision making and problem-solving (it has no negative marking)
  5. General mental ability to solve problems
  6. Basic numerical problems that include numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude etc up to Class X level and Data Interpretation including charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc up to class X level
  7. English Language Comprehension skills and writing ability (Class X level).

UPSC Mains examination syllabus:

This examination consists of seven papers and the evaluation is based on the writing of conventional and essay type questions. Each of the paper carries 250 marks. Some of them are compulsory and some of them are optional

After the selection is done from the main exams, the qualified ones are called for the interview that carries 275 marks. Questions asked in the interview mainly test the candidates’ personality

UPSC IAS Syllabus 2020-FAQ

Q 1. In how many shifts prelims exam will occur?

Ans: The prelims exam will be held in two shifts: Paper-I (General Studies) and Paper-II (CSAT).

Q 2. Is there any negative marking for the preliminary examination?

Ans: Yes, there is a negative marking scheme for both paper-I and paper-II. Deduction of 1/3rd mark for Paper I and 0.83 marks for paper-II.

Q 3. Is the Prelims and UPSC Mains Syllabus different?
