Tamilnadu Governors
The Governor of Tamil Nadu is the appointed head of the state, representing the President of India. The Governor is appointed by the President on the advice of the Union Cabinet. The Governor’s role is largely ceremonial and symbolic, with limited executive powers. The Governor has the power to appoint the Chief Minister and other ministers of the state government and to dissolve the state assembly on the advice of the Chief Minister. The current Governor of Tamil Nadu is Banwarilal Purohit, who assumed office in October 2017.
