• The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has released revised eligibility criteria for candidates who are pursuing Teacher Training Courses (TTC)
• As per NCTE, Candidates who have been admitted and undergoing any Teacher Training Course(TTC) can be referred to as “Pursuing” and they can be eligible to apply for the TET Examination.
• The candidates whose appointments are challenged were eligible to appear in the TET exam when they are pursuing a Teacher Training Course(TTC).
• National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) Regulations for eligibility criteria will be followed as previously mentioned.
• Post-graduation candidate with a minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade and three-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed.
• Minimum qualifications laid down in the Recruitment Rules for the teachers by the Appropriate Government where the school is situated or the Recruitment Rules for the teachers of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangthan or Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti.
• Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) does not imply that the candidate’s eligibility has been verified for Recruitment.
• Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) does not vest any right with the candidate for appointment.
• The final eligibility for any teaching recruitment by the concerned authority shall be finally verified.

CTET Revised Eligibility 2024  by NCTE

CTET Eligibility 2024 For Paper-I

The candidates who wish to teach students from Classes 1 to 5 must appear for the CTET Paper I. Here is the complete CTET Eligibility 2024 for Paper I.

• Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.

OR

• Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.

OR

• Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)*.

OR

• Candidates who possess “Graduation with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Education”.

CTET Eligibility 2024 For Paper-II

The candidates who wish to teach students from Class 1 to 5 must appear for the CTET Paper II. Here is the complete CTET Eligibility 2024 for Paper II.

• Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4- a four-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)/B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.

OR

• Graduation with at least 50% marks and passing or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed)/B.Ed. (Special Education).

OR

• Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in a 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure).

OR

• Any candidate having a qualified B.Ed Programme recognized by the NCTE is eligible to appear in TET/CTET.

OR

• Post-graduation candidate with a minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade and three-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed.

CTET Age Limit

Candidates seeking eligibility for teaching positions in Classes I-V (Primary Stage) or Classes VI-VIII (Elementary Stage) must meet the minimum age requirement of 18 years. However, there are no restrictions on the maximum age for applicants in either category. This approach acknowledges the diverse backgrounds and career trajectories of individuals interested in the teaching profession. It also encourages experienced professionals from various fields to consider transitioning into teaching without concerns about age barriers. There is no age limit required for the CTET examination. You can attempt some times as you want to improve your CTET score.

• For candidates applying for the post of teacher for Classes I-V (Primary Stage), the minimum age limit is 18 years, and there is no upper age limit.
• For candidates applying for the post of teacher for Classes VI-VIII (Elementary Stage), the minimum age limit is 18 years, and there is no upper age limit.
• There is no age restriction to apply for the CTET exam

CTET Eligibility For SC/ST/OBC

There is no provision for seat reservations for reserved category (SC/ ST/ OBC and PwD candidates)candidates. However, they are granted a relaxation of 5% marks in the qualifying exam of the CTET Exam.

CTET Reservation Criteria

For the General category, Candidates who score 60% marks in the examination will be considered qualified. A good thing for all the appearing candidates is that there is no negative marking for a wrong attempted question.
