• The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has released revised eligibility criteria for candidates who are pursuing Teacher Training Courses (TTC)
• As per NCTE, Candidates who have been admitted and undergoing any Teacher Training Course(TTC) can be referred to as “Pursuing” and they can be eligible to apply for the TET Examination.
• The candidates whose appointments are challenged were eligible to appear in the TET exam when they are pursuing a Teacher Training Course(TTC).
• National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) Regulations for eligibility criteria will be followed as previously mentioned.
• Post-graduation candidate with a minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade and three-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed.
• Minimum qualifications laid down in the Recruitment Rules for the teachers by the Appropriate Government where the school is situated or the Recruitment Rules for the teachers of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangthan or Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti.
• Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) does not imply that the candidate’s eligibility has been verified for Recruitment.

CTET Eligibility Criteria 2024 For Paper-I

The candidates who wish to teach students from Classes 1 to 5 must appear for the CTET Paper I. Here is the complete CTET Eligibility Criteria 2024 for Paper I.

• Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education. OR
• Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education. OR
• Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)*. OR
• Candidates who possess “Graduation with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Education”.

CTET Eligibility Criteria 2024 For Paper-II

• Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4- a four-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)/B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed. OR
• Graduation with at least 50% marks and passing or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed)/B.Ed. (Special Education). OR
• Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in a 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure). OR
• Any candidate having a qualified B.Ed Programme recognized by the NCTE is eligible to appear in TET/CTET. OR
• Post-graduation candidate with a minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade and three-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed.

CTET Age Limit 2024

Candidates aiming for eligibility to teach Classes I-V (Primary Stage) or Classes VI-VIII (Elementary Stage) must be at least 18 years old. However, there is no upper age limit for applicants in either category. This inclusive policy recognizes the diverse backgrounds and career paths of those interested in the teaching profession, encouraging experienced professionals from various fields to transition into teaching without facing age-related barriers. Additionally, there is no limit on the number of attempts for the CTET exam, allowing candidates to retake it as many times as they wish to improve their score.

• Candidates applying for the position of teacher for Classes I-V (Primary Stage) must be at least 18 years old, with no upper age limit.
• Similarly, for those applying for the position of teacher for Classes VI-VIII (Elementary Stage), the minimum age requirement is 18 years, and there is no maximum age limit.
• There are no age restrictions for applying to the CTET exam.

CTET Eligibility For SC/ST/OBC

There is no provision for seat reservations for reserved category (SC/ ST/ OBC and PwD candidates)candidates. However, they are granted a relaxation of 5% marks in the qualifying exam of the CTET Exam.

CTET Eligibility for Reserved Category

For the General category, Candidates who score 60% marks in the examination will be considered qualified. A good thing for all the appearing candidates is that there is no negative marking for a wrong attempted question. The CTET Reservation Criteria outlines the minimum cut-off marks required for different categories of candidates taking the exam. For the General category, candidates must achieve a cut-off of 90 marks to qualify, while candidates from other reserved categories need to secure at least 82 marks.
