Until 2014, only the member of the Baltic Sea NGO Forum observed World NGO Day i.e., Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Norway and Sweden.

Although Leaders from the United Nations and European Union started attending the event World NGO Day in 2014 and henceforth World NGO Day truly began to be observed as a significant international event.

The main objective of World NGO Day 2023 is to promote awareness about the extensive work of the NGOs across the world who have been working strenuously in the field of education, social justice, child rights, women’s rights, environment and so on.
