Bhuoen Hazarika died on 5th November 2011 in Mumbai. The Bharat Ratna awardee, born on 8th September 1926, was fondly called the Bard of Brahmaputra and Sudhkantha. He was a musician, lyricist, composer, and poet who introduced the world to the melodious Assamese Folk Music. His most prominent work is the song ‘Bistirno Parore’ which has been translated into various languages and is still one of the most remembered songs even after 4 decades after its release.
