Microplanning Essential For Re-opening Of Schools In July

With the global pandemic cases escalating alarmingly, the schools and other institutions were shut down by mid-March. The lockdown that followed has had a devastating impact on the education system. However, the Delhi government had conducted online classes in early May for classes 9 to 12. The classes had been suspended for summer vacation from May 11 to June 30. With a relaxed state of the lockdown in action, the schools have been devising methods on how to conduct the classes in times of Corona. “At present, summer vacations are going on. However, various activities and online classes are being conducted via SMS by teachers to help the students. However, we must be ready with a micro plan as per the needs of the school keeping in view the enrolment, staff, and infrastructure for re-opening of schools whenever a decision is taken in this regard,” read the circular of the DoE.

Additional Responsibility For The Heads Of Schools

“To initiate this planning process the facilitators of Cluster Leadership Development Programme shall conduct a session with about 10 heads of schools (HOSs) in their respective clusters in next fortnight.” a circular from the Directorate of Education (DoE) on Tuesday read. The schools have also been asked to submit statistics of the number of students, teaching staff, and support staff and also the available infrastructure. The heads of schools have also been put in charge of assessing and tracking each student, providing them emotional assistance, monitoring their sanitization, and abide by the social distancing norms when the school reopens. Each head is also responsible for ensuring whether or not it will be feasible for all of the students of the school to attend classes starting from July. A record of the number of students that the school is in contact with is also to be maintained. A proper assessment on how to enable social distancing norms and stick to the guidelines should be made and the number of students that can be accommodated per class must be given. The accessibility of communication devices among students must be analyzed and the number is to be taken.
