NEET Counselling 2021 Seat Matrix Allotment Process

In the counselling form, students are required to fill out their choices of colleges, in which they want to take admission. The counselling body will check if the student is eligible for a particular college or not depending upon the All India Rank received by the student.

If the student is found to be eligible, then he or she is allotted the seat. The notification is sent to the student. Now, the student needs to confirm whether he or she wants to lock the seat or take part in further rounds.

If a student is not satisfied with the college allotted to him or her by the counselling body, then the student can choose to go off the seat and take part in further rounds. The number of rounds depends upon the students left for college to be allotted.

Around 20, 890 seats will be filled out at the end of the counselling process. Central and deemed university seats are reserved for the wards of insured individuals.

Eligibility for NEET Counselling

To be eligible for the NEET Counselling, a student must first qualify for the NEET exam. The minimum scoring percentile in NEET has to be 40 percentile for reserved categories like SC, ST, and OBC and for the unreserved category it is 50 percentile. For especially abled individuals, the minimum requirement is 45 percentile.

There is a special list which the government releases every year. This list will contain the 15% of AIQ students’ names that are not eligible to take part in the counselling. This is because seats are already reserved for the students based on a few pre-requisites.

The official website for NEET Counselling registration is the MCC’s website. Students need to visit the website, create an account and then log in. After logging in they need to pay the counselling fees and then take part in the counselling rounds.

Additionally, the students are also required to confirm their documents at the time when they are notified to visit a venue physically for the seat confirmation. Once the document verification is done, the student can then visit the college website to get notified about the starting date for the respective courses.

State Counselling for UP NEET UG Counselling 2021

There will be state counselling which will take place for all the students of a state. The students will get an additional benefit from the state quota through this. For example, if you are a student residing in Bihar, so you will be given preference over a student applying for the same medical college.

85% of the total seats will be reserved for the state students. However, Jammu and Kashmir, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana will only use state counselling for college admissions.

What is the AIQ scheme for NEET Counselling?

15% of the seats are reserved for AIQ students. The AIQ (All India Quota) counselling takes place in two rounds. In these rounds, the students will be preferred by the ranks scored in All India. This is why the scheme is named be AIQ scheme that is the All India Quota scheme.

Students from the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir are not eligible to take part in this counselling. They are required to take part in the state counselling for the state medical colleges.

NEET Counselling 2021: 50% PG and 15% MBBS seats to be mandatorily reserved for Government medical colleges by NMC directs

The MMC conducts the NEET counselling process for admission to PG students. This year, they have directed that 15% of MBBS seats should be reserved for candidate qualifying NEET for admission to government medical colleges.

It was found that the overall seats for students were a lot lesser than the total number of students appearing for the entrance examination. This compelled the government to look after the issue and solve it on a priority basis.

Students appear to be quite satisfied after the decision was announced by the government. Earlier a  lot of protests had taken place due to the caste reservation system in which students get reserved seats due to the caste they belong to.

The counselling process is yet to start. The state quota seats will be allotted by the respective state counselling centres. Students will have to register themselves on the assigned portal with the application number and date of birth.

They also need to upload the required set of documents and pay the counselling fee which will make them eligible for the counselling rounds.  Counselling will be held for all the state medical colleges. Students will be allotted seats based on their scores in the entrance examination and the opening and closing ranks of the colleges they have selected.

Students are also eligible for certain reservations if their parents have served in Army or government defence services. To know more about such reservations, students will have to visit the official website of MMC.

It is mandatory for students to upload relevant and latest documents along with passport size photographs. These will be cross-checked at the time of admission to respective medical colleges. Students failing to provide valid documents will be denied admission to the colleges.
