The Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB) will soon start the Bihar NEET Counselling 2026 process on its official website, bceceboard.bihar.gov.in. Candidates who cleared NEET UG 2026 and hold Bihar domicile have to apply for UGMAC 2026 to get admission through the 85% state quota seats. Bihar NEET Counselling 2026

BCECEB, Patna conducts the state quota counselling for Bihar every year under the name UGMAC, which stands for Under Graduate Medical Admission Counselling. This year, BCECEB has already issued two advertisements for the UGMAC 2026 cycle,  the first on 2 April 2026 and the second on 28 June 2026, but the detailed counselling schedule with registration dates is yet to be released. The board has confirmed that the full schedule will be published only after the NEET UG 20

NEET 2026 Counselling Online Sessions

One reason the Bihar NEET counselling 2026 process is running later than usual this year is the NEET UG 2026 re-exam, which was held on 21 June 2026. Since the main exam schedule got delayed compared to last year, the entire UGMAC 2026 timeline is expected to shift back by a few weeks as well.

Exceptions to the Bihar Domicile Rule

Candidates may also be eligible under the following conditions:

• Parents are residents of Bihar, but the candidate completed schooling in another state.
• Parents are employees of the Government of Bihar.
• Parents are employees of the Central Government and are currently posted in Bihar.

Bihar NEET Counselling 2026 Reservation Policy

Bihar follows its own state-level reservation structure for UGMAC seats, separate from the central OBC category. Candidates need to select the correct category while filling the form.

Candidates who are recognised as OBC at the national level should note that Bihar classifies this group under BC or EBC. So while filling the UGMAC-2026 form, choose BC or EBC as per your actual caste certificate instead of marking OBC directly.

Open State, Close State and Free Exit: Terms You Should Know

Before filling choices in Bihar NEET counselling 2026, candidates should understand a few terms that come up again and again during the process:

• Open State: Candidates from any state of India can apply for these seats without needing Bihar domicile.
• Close State: Only candidates who hold Bihar domicile can apply for these seats. Candidates from other states are not eligible.
• Free Exit: This lets a candidate withdraw from an allotted seat without paying any penalty, but it only applies at specific stages of counselling as notified by BCECEB.

Bihar NEET Counselling 2026 Registration Process

The Bihar NEET Counselling 2026 registration process is expected to be done in online mode. Students should fill the form carefully because even a small mistake can create problem later during admission.

Bihar NEET Counselling 2026 registration starts with candidate login using NEET UG 2026 details and OTP verification. After registration, applicants must fill out the form, upload documents, pay the counselling fee, and complete choice filling. Once done, they should download the confirmation page, fee receipt, and choice slip for future use.

Along with the registration fee, candidates also need to pay a refundable security deposit, which varies by the type of college they choose:

• Admit Card of NEET (UG)
• Score Card of NEET (UG)
• Passing Certificate/Mark sheet/Admit Card of Matric or equivalent exam
• Passing Certificate/Mark sheet/Admit Card of Intermediate (10+2) or equivalent exam
• Residential Certificate
• Caste Certificate
• All original certificates/documents as required for admission in Private Medical/Dental Colleges
• Six copies of the passport-size photograph pasted on the NEET (UG) admit card
• Downloaded printout of the online filled Application Form (Confirmation Page) of UGMAC-2026
• Aadhaar Card
• Check Slip downloaded during counselling, along with one copy of the Biometric Identification Report (Form 1)
• Any other document required, such as DQ (PH)/SMQ/EWS Certificate, if applicable

Bihar NEET Counselling 2026 Seat Allotment Process

The seat allotment process is done by BCECEB. Before the final allotment, the board may first release a mock seat allotment. This helps students understand their chances and improve their choices if needed. After the choice-filling deadline, the board releases the final seat allotment result for each round.

Students need to do these steps:

• check seat allotment result on official website
• download allotment letter if seat is given
• report to the allotted college or reporting centre on time
• complete document verification
• pay admission fee

If a student is not satisfied with the allotted seat, they may take part in the next round, but only as per the counselling rules. So students should read the guidelines properly.
