Maharashtra NEET Counselling 2026 Choice Filling Process
Choice filling is one of the most important stages of the counselling process. After the merit list is released, eligible students must fill and arrange the colleges in the order of their preference. This part looks easy from outside, but actually it needs smart planning.
Choice Filling Tips for Maharashtra NEET Counselling 2026
- Fill as many college options as possible
- Put your most preferred college at the top
- Don’t fill choices in random order
- Check seat type and fee before adding a college
- Lock your choices before the deadline

Maharashtra NEET Counselling 2026 Counselling Rounds
Maharashtra NEET Counselling 2026 is usually held in multiple rounds so that all vacant seats can be filled properly.
Round 1
Round 1 is the first counselling round. Fresh candidates can register and fill their choices. If a student gets a seat in Round 1 and does not join, they can usually take Free Exit without losing the security deposit. This is helpful for students who wants to wait for a better option.
Round 2
Candidates who did not get a seat in Round 1 or want to participate again can take part in Round 2. Fresh choice filling is generally required. If a seat is allotted in Round 2 and the student does not join, the security deposit may be forfeited. Students satisfied with the seat can submit the Status Retention Form.
Round 3 (Mop-Up Round)
Round 3 is the Mop-Up Round and is conducted for the remaining vacant seats. Candidates allotted a seat in this round are usually not allowed to resign. If they fail to join, penalties can apply. So students should enter the Mop-Up Round only after thinking properly.
Maharashtra NEET Counselling 2026 Seat Withdrawal Rules
Students should understand seat withdrawal rules clearly before participating in different rounds.
- Free Exit is available only in Round 1
