What is MCC NEET UG Counselling?

Many students search What is MCC Counselling? after the NEET result because they don’t know who conducts the counselling process. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) conducts counselling for 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats. Apart from AIQ seats, MCC also conducts counselling for AIIMS, JIPMER, Central Universities, Deemed Universities, ESIC Colleges and some other participating institutes.

If your college comes under State Quota, then you have to participate in your respective state’s counselling process. So before registration, always check whether your preferred medical college comes under MCC counselling or State counselling.

MCC Counselling is Held for Which Seats?

Many students are confused because they think MCC counselling is conducted for every medical college in India. This is not correct. MCC counselling is conducted only for some specific seats. If your preferred college comes under these seats, then you need to register for MCC counselling.

MCC conducts counselling for the following seats.

  • 15% All India Quota (AIQ) MBBS and BDS seats of participating states.
  • 100% MBBS and BDS seats of Banaras Hindu University (BHU).
  • 100% MBBS seats of AIIMS located across India.
  • 100% MBBS seats of JIPMER Puducherry and Karaikal.
  • 100% seats of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).
  • 85% State Quota seats of Delhi University and IP University institutes.
  • Faculty of Dentistry, Jamia Millia Islamia.
  • ESIC IP Quota Seats.
  • All participating Deemed Universities.

If your dream medical college comes under any of the above categories, then you should participate in MCC NEET UG 2026 Counselling.

NEET UG 2026 Counselling Process

If you are participating in NEET counselling for the first time, then don’t worry because the counselling process is not very difficult. You just have to complete every step before the last date. Missing any step like registration, choice filling or reporting may result in losing your allotted seat. So let’s understand the complete counselling process one by one.

  • Registration: The first step is registration. Visit the official MCC website and complete your registration using your NEET UG 2026 details. Without registration, you cannot participate in any counselling round.
  • Fee Payment: After completing your registration, you have to pay the counselling registration fee online. Make sure your payment is successful because only then your application will be accepted.
  • Choice Filling: Now comes one of the most important parts of the counselling process. Here you have to select the medical colleges where you want admission. Always fill maximum college choices instead of selecting only two or three colleges because this increases your chances of getting a seat.
  • Choice Locking: After filling all your preferred colleges, don’t forget to lock your choices before the deadline. Many students forget this step every year, so don’t make the same mistake. Always check whether your choices have been locked successfully.
  • Seat Allotment: After the choice filling process is completed, MCC prepares the seat allotment result. Your seat allotment depends on your NEET Rank, Reservation Category, College Choices and Seat Availability.
  • Reporting to College: If you are allotted a medical college, then report to the allotted institute within the reporting dates along with all your original documents. If you do not report within the given time, your allotted seat may get cancelled.
