Eid Mubarak To All Of You

After the holy month of fasting during Ramadan, now all the Muslim followers across the globe are waiting for the celebration day of Eid ul-Fitr. As Islam festivals such as Eid are based on lunar sightings, it is yet to be declared whether the festival will start from the evening of 3rd May.  Though Eid ul-Fitr is a festival that is waited by the people throughout the year, this year things are going to be little different than other years.

The Festival of Eid al-Fitr

Eid ul-Fitr signifies the breaking of the fasting of Ramadan. In most Muslim nations, it is celebration at length for continuous three days.

Eid is celebrated to remember the loyalty of Prophet Ibrahim towards Allah. As per the story, Allah once asked Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ishamel to show his loyalty. When Ibrahim was about to make the sacrifice, Allah saved his son.

As the start of Ramadan depends on the sighting of the crescent moon, similarly, Eid also depends on the sighting of the crescent moon. If the local moon sighting authorities can see the moon on 3rd May evening, Eid will be declared since 3rd May evening or else Ramadan will continue for one more day.

The Celebration of Eid al-Fitr

If the crescent moon is sighted, Eid is announced and people go for prayers in post-dawn to mosques. A number of people also clean their houses and decorate with lights and other things. Even the roads are decorated with colorful items.

People wear new clothes and kids are offered kids by the elders. As the festival is all about sacrifice and love, people offer help and support to the poor too.

Muslim households are busy cooking delicious desserts and other meals to celebrate the special day. Special puddings and biriyani are some of the most common dishes cooked in most of the Muslim houses on this day. People invite each other to celebrate the day with friends and family.

How Eid ul-Fitr will be Celebrated this year?

Though each year Eid ul-Fitr is celebrated with great pomp and show, this year it is going to be normal again after two year of COVID-19 situation. The spread can be curbed only when people will maintain social distancing among themselves. As festivals are the main time of gatherings, hence a number of Muslim nations across the world have advised to celebrate the festival with proper precautions.

In the course of Eid-al-fitr, people dress in their best clothes, clean their house and decorate with electronic ornamentation and decorations. Children are treated by their parents, and people travel from far off places to greet and celebrate this auspicious festival with their loved ones. People share gifts and greetings to show their happiness and pay respects to their ancestors on their grave and pray for their blessings.
