Are Engineering Graduates Eligible For The CTET Exam?

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducts CTET examination twice every year. The aspiring candidates who want a job for the post of Teachers in Government & Private Institutions should have to clear the CTET Exam. Every year lakhs of candidates appear for the CTET examination making the competition level rise with each passing year. The basic eligibility criteria for the CTET examination is passing a 12th/Graduation degree with D.El.Ed/ B.Ed degree. As CBSE has updated the CTET exam pattern, syllabus, CTET has become more curious about the upcoming CTET Notification 2022.

Can Engineering Graduates be Eligible For B.ED?

Any Engineering candidates who wish to pursue a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree are eligible for the same. The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) 2014 has relaxed the norms and allowed Engineering graduates to pursue B.Ed courses. With this decision, Engineering graduates can take up a B.ED course in Mathematics and Science.

As per the NCTE criteria, Engineering graduates with any background in Engineering courses with 55% marks are only eligible for a B.Ed course in Mathematics and Science option available in a particular university. Also, other candidates are also eligible to appear for the state-based TET examination. After pursuing an engineering course you can do a bachelor’s in education course which makes you eligible for various teaching vacancies.

As per the basic eligibility criteria of the CTET Exam, the candidates are required to be a Graduate having a B.Ed degree. CTET Eligibility Criteria 2022

According to the CTET notification 2022, the candidates who are pursuing Teacher Training courses will be eligible to apply for CTET Exam. Here we are sharing the CTET 2022 Eligibility criteria for Primary & Upper Primary level CTET exams.

CTET Eligibility 2022 For Paper-I

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education/4- year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).

OR 

Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education.

OR 
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2- year Diploma in Education (Special Education)*.
OR 
Candidates who possessed “Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed)” are now eligible for becoming Teachers for Classes I-V: Primary Stage. Such Candidates have to mandatory undergo a six-month Bridge Course in Elementary Education recognized by the NCTE, within two years of such appointment as a primary teacher.

CTET Eligibility 2022 For Paper-II

Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education.

OR

Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1- year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).

OR

Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure).

OR

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4- year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).

OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4- year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.

OR

Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1- year B.Ed. (Special Education).

OR

Any candidate having a qualified B.Ed Programme recognized by the NCTE is eligible to appear in TET/CTET.

Scope For Engineering Graduates After Completing B.ED

The candidates who have completed their B. Tech degree along with B.ED can apply for Teaching jobs. Here we are explaining major vacancies which have been released for engineering students.

  • KVS releases vacancies for the B.Tech students i.e. PGT(CS) and TGT (Work Experience). The candidates who have completed their B. Tech in Computer Science along with B.Ed can apply for this examination. Along with this, the candidates applying for TGT(WE) can apply only if they have a Btech degree with an electrical or electronics degree.
