In the case of a candidate appointed to a regular post, following the guidelines of the 7th pay commission, the starting basic pay for an entry-level Assistant Professor in a government college or university is Rs. 57,700 per month. All the UGC NET qualified candidate will be going to receive Assistant Professor salary as per 7th pay commission. The Salary Pay Band is Rs. 15600-39100 + AGP Rs. 6000 Pre Revised (57000) Level 10. As per the 7th Pay Commission, the salary structure of an Assistant Professor in College or Universities is as follows:

  • Pay Band: Rs. 57,700 – Rs. 1,82,400
  • Grade Pay: Rs. 6,000
  • Entry Pay: Rs. 57,700

The stipend provided to Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) under UGC NET varies depending on the organization or institution that the candidate is associated with. However, as per the latest UGC guidelines, the stipend for JRF is Rs. 37,000 per month for the initial two years of the fellowship. After two years, the fellowship is upgraded to Senior Research Fellowship (SRF), and the stipend is increased to Rs. 42,000 per month.
