How To Fill UGC NET 2023 Online Application Form?
UGC NET Notification 2023 Application form will be released on 10 May 2023. Candidates can fill out the UGC NET Form by following the given steps. The NTA UGC NET Application form will be released on its official website.
Step I: Registration Page
Fill in the basic information and note down the system-generated Application No.
(i) Candidate’s Name/ Mother’s Name/ Father’s Name as given in the Secondary School Examination or equivalent Board/University Certificate in capital letters
(ii) Date of Birth in dd/mm/yyyy format as mentioned in Secondary School Examination or equivalent Board/ University certificate.
(iii) Mobile Number and e-mail Address – Candidates must provide their own Mobile Number and e-mail address.
Note: Only one e-mail address and one Mobile Number are valid for one application.
Step II: Fill in the complete UGC NET June Exam Form:
(a) The applicant fills in all the required credentials in the form.
- Personal information: includes, name, gender, parents’ name, mobile number, email address, date of birth, etc.
- Permanent address: includes address, pin code, state code district, etc.
- Educational Qualification: the applicant is required to fill in the details of educational qualification which include the Name of the Course, Name of the College, Year of Passing, percentage of marks required, etc.
- -After all the details are filled in, candidates need to click on the “Next” button.
Step III: Uploading of scanned images & Signature
- The candidate’s Photograph & Signature should be in JPG/JPEG format only
- The size of the scanned image of the photograph should be between 10kb to 200kb. The photograph need not be attested.
- The size of the scanned image of the signature should be between 4kb to 30kb. The candidate should put his full signature in running handwriting on white paper with a Black Ink pen and scan it for uploading.
- Spectacles are allowed only if being used regularly.
- Polaroid and Computer-generated photos are not acceptable.
- The same Passport size photograph is to be used for uploading with the Online Application Form and for pasting on the Attendance Sheet at the Examination Centre.
Step IV: Payment of Fee and Status of Receipt of Online Application Form with Fee. Make a payment of fee through SBI /Syndicate/HDFC /ICICI Payment Gateway (Debit/Credit Card or Net Banking/Paytm) and keep proof of fee paid.
Download save and print a copy of the Confirmation Page after successful remittance of the fee for your record and future reference.
(b) All the steps for submission of the Online Application Form, Uploading of the Candidate’s photograph, Candidate’s signature, Payment of fee, and Printing of Confirmation Page can also be done separately.
(c) Once finally submitted, particulars in certain specific fields may be changed only during the correction window.

The process of the UGC NET June form will consist of four steps. Aspirants should keep in mind the below:
- Only one application is to be submitted by a candidate. More than one application i.e. multiple Application Forms submitted by a candidate will not be accepted
- The medium of the Question Paper shall be in English & Hindi only.
- Each question carries 02 (two) marks for and for each correct response, the candidate will get 02 (two) marks.
- There is no negative marking for an incorrect response.
- No marks will be given for questions un-answered/un-attempted/marked for Review.
- The UGC NET officials will provide candidates with a chance to edit their online applications.

UGC NET 2023 Educational Qualification
- Candidates who are pursuing their master’s degree equivalent courses or candidates who have appeared for their qualifying master’s degree (Final year) examination and whose result is still awaited or candidates whose qualifying examination has been delayed can appear in the UGC NET 2023 Examination.
- Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination from universities/ institutions recognized by UGC in Humanities (including languages) and Social Science, Computer Science & Applications, Electronic Science, etc. are eligible for this Test.
- For Reserved Category: The Other Backward Classes(OBC) belonging to non-creamy layer/Scheduled Caste(SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/ persons with disability(PwD) category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this test.
- For SET Candidates: The candidates who have cleared the States Eligibility Test (SET) accredited by UGC for Assistant Professor held prior to 1st June 2002, are exempted from appearing in NET and are eligible to apply for Assistant Professor anywhere in India.
- For Transgender Candidates: The transgender category would be eligible to draw the same relaxation in fee, age, and qualifying criteria for NET (i.e. JRF and Assistant Professor) as are available to SC/ST/PwD categories.
Note : The NET Bureau of UGC has requested NTA to fix the upper age limit for applying for JRF as 1 December 2023 instead of 1st Febraury 2023. The upper age limit for JRG is 30 year at 1 December 2022.

Important Pointers
Age Limit: Not more than 31 years as on the 1st day of the month in which the examination is concluded.
Note: UGC has also revised the age limit for JRF which will be applicable for this current examination only. JRF applied candidate age limit should not be more than 31 yr as of 01.10.2021 (October 1, 2021).
Relaxation: A relaxation of up to 5 years is provided to the candidates belonging to OBC (Non-creamy layer, as per the Central list of OBC available on the website: www.ncbc.nic.in) SC/ST/PWD/Transgender categories and to women applicants.
- Relaxation will also be provided to the candidates with research experience, limited to the period spent on research in the relevant/related subject of post-graduation degree, subject to a maximum of 5 years, on the production of a certificate from the appropriate authority.
- Three years of relaxation in age will be permissible to the candidates with L.L.M. Degree.
- A relaxation of up to 5 years is provided to the candidates who have served in the armed forces subject to the length of service in the armed forces up to the first day of the month in which the concerned UGC-NET is to be held.
- Total age relaxation on the above ground(s) shall not exceed five years under any circumstances.
UGC NET 2023 Reservation Policy
The reservation policy of the Government of India is applicable to UGC-NET. According to this, in the Central Universities and Institutions that are deemed to be Universities, 10% of the seats are reserved for the category General-Economically Weaker Section (GEN-EWS), 15% of the seats are reserved for the category Scheduled Caste(SC), 7.5% for the category Scheduled Tribe(ST) and 27% for the category Other Backward Classes belonging to the Non Creamy layer”(OBC-NCL).
Each category will have 4 (four)% reservations horizontally for Persons with Disabilities(PwD) as defined in the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (RPwD Act,2016) (source-Press Release by UGC).

UGC NET Selection Process
- The number of candidates to be qualified (total slots or Eligibility for Assistant Professor) shall be equal to 6% of the candidates who appeared in both the papers of NET.
- In order to be considered for ‘JRF and Eligibility for Assistant Professor and for ‘Assistant Professor, the candidate must have appeared in both the papers and secured at least 40% aggregate marks in both the papers taken together for the General (Unreserved) categories candidates and at least 35% aggregate marks in both the papers taken together for all candidates belonging to the following reserved categories

Eligible candidates can check for the Examination Centre, Date, and Shift (Timing) as indicated in their UGC NET 2023 Admit Card. No candidate will be allowed to appear at the examination center, on the Date and Timings other than that allotted to them in their Admit card. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued the E certificate to give honor to all the selected candidates in UGC NET Exam.
