Is the UGC NET Exam Date Postponed?

The much-awaited UGC NET Exam 2024 has been announced for the June Cycle by the National Test Agency (NTA) on 20 April 2024. As per the official information bulletin published on the official website of NTA, the UGC NET Exam 2024 has been scheduled for 16 June 2024. However, the chances of the UGC NET Exam 2024 being postponed are exponentially increasing since applicants are highlighting the clashing of exam dates for the UGC NET with the UPSC Exam.

UGC NET & UPSC Exam Date Clash

On 20 April 2024, NTA announced the UGC NET Exam Date 2024 to be held on 16 June 2024 which directly clashes with another national-level prestigious exam, UPSC Recruitment Test Prelims 2024 for Civil Services and Indian Forest Services. UPSC published the revised Exam Calendar for all the prelims and mains exams under the UPSC on 19 April 2024. As the UPSC Exam calendar has already been revised once, chances are high that the UPSC will not change the exam date.

How Does the Clash Affect UPSC & UGC NET Aspirants?

As many UPSC Aspirants also appear for the UGC NET Exam every year, candidates might have to make the tough choice of opting for one exam and let go of the opportunity to appear for the other exam. UPSC and UGC NET exams are both tough and high-level exams. Therefore, UPSC Aspirants often prepare for the UGC NET exam simultaneously to broaden their spectrum of opportunities.

Is the UGC NET Exam Date Postponed?

As mentioned above, the UPSC has already revised their Exam Calendar once, hence, it is not likely they will revise the exam dates again. Therefore, it is anticipated that the NTA might take the decision to postpone the exam date to facilitate the opportunity for the candidates to appear for both exams.
