CTET Full Form- What is the Full Form of CTET?

CTET Full Form: CTET is a national level eligibility test for teachers conducted by CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) twice a year for the teaching aspirants. After passing the CTET exams, the candidates are provided with the CTET certificate.

With the CTET certificate, the candidates can apply for various government teaching jobs. CTET 2021 Notifications came out on 20th September 2021 and the aspirants are waiting for the CTET Exam 2021 dates will be held between 16th December 2021 to 13th January 2022. What is the Full Form of CTET?

The full form of CTET is the Central Teacher Eligibility Test. As we have discussed earlier, the CTET exam is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education or (CBSE). CTET is the eligibility test for teachers conducted at the national level.

Aspiring candidates can appear for CTET to become eligible for various Government and Private Teaching Jobs across India. The main objective of this exam is to churn out the best teaching candidates from across the country. This will ensure that the future generation of India is in better hands.

About CTET

The Right To Education Act (RTE) Section 23, Sub- Section (1) states that a person possessing the minimum qualification laid down by the concerned academic authority (authorized by the Government of India), by notification, shall be eligible for appointment as a teacher.

Thus, the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), vide Notification dated 23rd August 2010 and 29th JULY, 2011 has laid down the minimum eligibility criteria for all the candidates/persons aspiring to become a teacher for primary education (classes 1- 8). According to Clause (n) of section 2 of the RTE Act, the candidate should pass the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) conducted by the appropriate Government abiding by the provisions/ Guidelines framed by NCTE. 

The Ministry of Education, Govt. of India has entrusted the responsibility of conducting the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) to the Central Board of Secondary Education Delhi.

Objective of CTET

CTET exam is conducted to employ the aspirants for teaching profiles across the country. Indian Government introduced the CTET exam to enhance the school education system and bring some new standards in teaching profiles. The exam is centred on the National Curriculum Framework.

The candidate interested in applying for CTET should clear the minimum eligibility criteria. Candidates should have passed senior secondary with at least 50% marks and should hold a professional degree i.e B.Ed or D.Ed or B.El.Ed degree. Thus, if you are only 12th pass out, then you can apply for the CTET paper I (for Primary Teacher) exam after completing a 2-year diploma in Elementary Education.

There are two papers of the CTET exam; Paper I is for those aspirants who want to teach classes from 1 to V and Paper II is for those aspirants who want to teach classes from VI to VIII.

Can 12th Pass Candidates Apply For CTET Exam

Eligibility Criteria of CTET

The minimum requirement to appear in the CTET exam is to have passed the senior secondary exam with a minimum of 50% marks and a B.Ed. degree. Moreover, the candidate who meets all the eligibility requirements for appearing in CTET can apply for the exam several times to improve their score.

Primary Stage (Paper I) Class 12th with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)

OR

Class 12th with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4- year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed).

OR

Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed).
Upper Primary Stage (Paper II) Graduation and passing /appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).

OR

Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed/ appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).

OR

Class 12th with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4- year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed) or B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.

OR

Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education).

OR

Any candidate having qualified B.Ed. The programme recognized by the NCTE is eligible to appear in TET/CTET

CTET Vs TET

Candidates often enquire about the difference between CTET and TET. To start with, both CTET and TET are eligibility tests for teachers. CTET is conducted on a national level by the central government and TET is conducted on a state level by respective state governments.
