AP TET Eligibility Criteria 2026, Check Qualification and Age Limit

The CSEAP has released the eligibility criteria for the AP TET exam with the Andhra Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test Notification PDF. AP TET Eligibility Criteria

The Commissioner of School Education, Andhra Pradesh (CSEAP) has scheduled an AP TET exam to be held at various centers across several districts in Andhra Pradesh, as well as in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, and Odisha. The exam, known as AP TET 2026, will be conducted online as a Computer-Based Test (CBT). The official notification has included the dates for the APTET exam 2026.

Andhra Pradesh TET Eligibility Criteria

The Andhra Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (APTET) application form has been open on the official website for the June 2026 Cycle. All applicants are requested to carefully read the AP TET eligibility criteria before filling out the application form. The AP TET examination is conducted for regular schools as well as special schools. In regular schools, candidates can apply for Class 1 to V and Class VI to VIII for AP TET. In special schools, candidates can also apply for Classes 1 to V and Classes VI to 8 for AP TET.

AP TET Eligibility for Regular Schools

Candidates who wish to teach in regular government or private schools in Andhra Pradesh must meet the eligibility criteria set by NCTE. The eligibility is different for Paper 1A (Classes I to V) and Paper 2A (Classes VI to VIII).The educational qualification for APTET 2026 Paper 1 & II is provided below for the convenience of candidates:

Note: Only degrees and diplomas recognized by NCTE will be accepted for Paper 1A and Paper 2A. Graduation and Post Graduation must be from a UGC-recognized university. Intermediate must be from the Board of Intermediate Education (BIE), Andhra Pradesh or its equivalent.

AP TET Eligibility 2026 for Special  Schools

Candidates who wish to teach in special schools in Andhra Pradesh must meet the eligibility criteria set by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). The eligibility is different for Paper 1B (Classes I to V in Special Schools) and Paper 2B (Classes VI to VIII in Special Schools). The following are the educational qualifications for a special school for APTET Paper 1 & II Part B aspirants:

Note: For Paper 1B and Paper 2B, only qualifications recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) will be accepted. In-service teachers serving in government and private aided institutions are exempted from the standard eligibility criteria as per the Supreme Court judgment in Civil Appeal No. 1385/2025.

APTET Eligibility For Language Teachers

To be eligible as a language teacher, candidates must have completed their graduation with the concerned language as one of their optional subjects. Alternatively, they could have a Bachelor’s degree in Oriental Language or its equivalent, or have completed their graduation in Literature. Candidates with a Post-Graduation degree in the concerned language and a Language Pandit Training Certificate or a B.Ed with the concerned language as one of their methodologies are also eligible.

AP TET Age Limit

The candidates must be 18 years and above to become eligible for the AP TET Exam 2026. There is no upper AP TET Age Limit as per the AP TET Eligibility Criteria 2026. The candidates must ensure they are 18 years or above to apply for the AP TET Exam 2026.
