The Ministry of Education has also observed that 8.4 lakh teaching vacancies are available across the nation. This alarming figure was revealed by the Education Ministry in response to a question in Parliament. The shortage is particularly acute at the primary level, with a stark gap of 7.2 lakh vacancies. The secondary level also faces a significant deficit, with 1.2 lakh vacant positions.

Situation Slightly Better in Rajasthan

While the situation is concerning nationwide, Rajasthan stands out as a rare bright spot. The state has managed to avoid entering the top five states with the most vacant teacher positions, indicating a more proactive approach to recruitment. There are a total of 343,018 posts that are currently under recruitment in the state of Rajasthan. Soon teaching aspirants will also see fresh teaching recruitments after the REET Level 1 and Level 2 exams are over.

Bihar has Most Teaching Vacancies Available

However, the situation in other states remains far less optimistic. Bihar tops the list with a staggering 1.92 lakh vacant primary teacher positions, followed closely by Uttar Pradesh. At the secondary level, Bihar again takes the lead with 32,929 vacancies, followed by Madhya Pradesh. With BPSC actively participating in various teaching recruitments this year and the promise to conduct BPSC Teacher Recruitment every year in August, candidates will see significant changes in this scenario.
