Qualification : Ph.D/MD/MS/MDS or equivalent degree or having completed 3 years of research  teaching and design and development experience after  M.Sc/ M.Pharma/ ME/ M Tech with at least one research paper in Science Citation  Indexed  (SCI) Journal. Depending on the qualification and experience, the emolument of the Research Associate any fall into the 3 pay levels mentioned below. DST has recently hiked the Research Associate Stipend for all levels.

CSIR NET Allowances

As per the CSIR norms, CSIR NET Teacher qualified candidates receive a monthly stipend or fellowship or salary to support their research work. CSIR NET qualified candidates are entitled to various allowances such as HRA, medical benefits, contingency grant, travel allowance, LTC, DA, and leave benefits as per the rules and regulations of the Council. These allowances are designed to support the research work of the candidates and provide them with financial assistance during their JRF or SRF tenure. Here are the main allowances provided to CSIR NET qualified candidates:

  • House Rent Allowance (HRA): CSIR NET qualified candidates who are not provided with accommodation by the host institute are entitled to HRA. The HRA is calculated as a percentage of the fellowship amount and varies according to the city/town of residence which will be between 8-24 %.
  • Medical Benefits: CSIR NET qualified candidates are eligible for medical benefits as per the rules of the Council. They can claim reimbursement of medical expenses incurred during the course of their research work.
  • Contingency Grant: CSIR NET qualified candidates are provided with a contingency grant to cover the expenses incurred during their research work. This grant can be used for purchasing books, journals, chemicals, equipment, and other research-related expenses.
  • Travel Allowance: CSIR NET qualified candidates are entitled to travel allowances for attending scientific conferences, seminars, workshops, and other events related to their research work.
