The Tamil Nadu State Eligibility Test (TNSET) is a state-level exam conducted to determine the eligibility of candidates for Assistant Professor posts in Tamil Nadu universities and colleges. The medium of Question Papers (Paper I and Paper II) will be in Tamil and English except Paper II of language subjects (Tamil, Arabic, Hindi, Malayalam, Sanskrit, Telugu and Urdu). TN SET Qualifying Marks

To qualify for TN SET, passing marks in both Paper I and Paper II are required. The minimum overall percentage needed is 40% for general categories and 35% for reserved categories. However, these are just qualifying marks, not the final cut-off score for selection, which is usually higher.

Minimum Marks Required:

  • General Category (OC/BC/BCM/MBC/DNC): 40% aggregate in both Paper I and Paper II (combined)
  • Reserved Categories (SC/SCA/ST/PwD/Transgender): 35% aggregate in both Paper I and Paper II (combined)
