NESTS (National Education Society for Tribal Students) has issued fresh guidelines dated 27 May 2026 for engaging Guest Teachers in EMRS schools for the Academic Year 2026-27. Since the EMRS Staff Selection Exam 2026 is still underway, schools have been permitted to hire guest teachers on an ad-hoc basis to keep academic activities running. This permission is valid till regular staff is posted by NESTS or till the end of Academic Session 2026-27, whichever comes earlier. All State/UT EMRS Societies and school principals must follow these revised guidelines strictly.
How Will EMRS Guest Teacher Selection Be Done?
EMRS schools will not follow a single central notification for guest teacher recruitment. Individual schools or regional EMRS Societies will release their own notices depending on vacancy. Here is how selection will work:
- Individual EMRS schools or State Societies will release separate notification or interview notice
- Selection may be through Walk-in Interview, Merit List, or Panel basis
- If a school cannot arrange guest teachers on its own, existing panels of other EMRS schools, KVS, or JNV may also be used
- If the State Society cannot arrange teachers, the Principal is empowered to arrange them directly
- Candidates must check their nearest EMRS school or regional society notice regularly for updates
EMRS Guest Teacher Eligibility & Qualification
Candidates should preferably meet the standard NESTS Recruitment Rules (RR) qualification for TGT and PGT posts. However, in emergency situations, relaxation is permitted. Key eligibility points are as follows:
- Qualification: As per NESTS RR for respective TGT/PGT subject post
- CTET: Preferred and required for TGT posts
- STET: If CTET-qualified candidates are not available for TGT posts, STET-qualified candidates may also be considered
- Candidates without full NESTS RR qualification may be considered only in exceptional and emergency situations
- Past academic performance of candidates will be given top priority during selection; candidates with poor track records may be rejected
- Full-time engagement is preferred over part-time or period-based engagement
EMRS Guest Teacher Salary 2026
The consolidated monthly remuneration for Guest Teachers depends on the post and whether the candidate holds the prescribed NESTS qualification. Below is the complete salary structure:
| Post | With NESTS RR Qualification | Without NESTS RR Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| PGT | ₹35,000/- per month | ₹31,000/- per month |
| TGT | ₹33,000/- per month | ₹29,000/- per month |
Guest teachers may also be provided campus accommodation wherever possible, which is an additional benefit for outstation candidates.
Terms, Conditions and Important Rules for EMRS Guest Teacher
Before applying or joining as a Guest Teacher in EMRS, candidates must be aware of the following key terms and conditions. These rules apply uniformly across all EMRS schools in all States and UTs.
- Engagement is purely temporary and ad-hoc in nature
- Guest teachers will have to sign an undertaking stating: “The engagement is purely on adhoc basis, and the guest staff shall not claim any right to regularization of their services on account of this engagement.”
- No claim for regularization of service will be entertained on any ground
- Guest teachers must perform full-time duties including remedial teaching, assessments, and supervised study – not just classroom teaching
- Engagement will automatically end when regular NESTS staff is posted or when Academic Session 2026-27 ends, whichever is earlier
- Guest teachers will also be held accountable for the academic performance of their students.
