Why CTET Exam 2023 is Being Conducted Offline? What’s The Reason?

On 9 June 2023, the Central Board of Secondary Education announced that the CTET Exam 2023 will be conducted in offline mode. The CTET Exam Date 2023 has been scheduled on 20 August 2023 (Sunday) in two shifts for Paper I and Paper II. The CTET Exam 2023 will be conducted in various exam centres across the country on the same day.

This news has come as a surprise for the CTET aspirants as they have been preparing for the CTET Exam 2023 keeping in mind that it will be conducted in online mode. Now the question “Why CTET Exam 2023 is Being Conducted Offline?” is bothering the aspirants.

For the last two times i.e., CTET Exam conducted in 2021 and 2022 has been conducted online. In both years, the CTET Exam Dates 2023 stretched over a month. In 2023, the CTET Exam will be conducted on a single day in offline mode i.e., pen and paper mode on OMR Sheet.

Although CBSE has not mentioned any particular reason behind this, some speculations are doing the rounds.

Some of the reasons that are popping up are technical issues, infrastructure issues, availability of dates and venues, security issues and among the top reasons. As CBSE requires to involve of a third-party organisation like TCS to arrange technological support such as venue, computer systems, cyber security and so on, the stakes of organising an online exam get high.

In 2021, three shifts of the CTET Exam had to be cancelled and rescheduled due to technical issues. Moreover, the pressure of coming up with so many sets of question papers for Paper I and Paper II to be used in various shifts of exams is hectic for the exam conducting body.

Another shortcoming of online exams is the computer literacy among the CTET Aspirants. Many candidates had to face the challenges of getting acquainted with the process of the Online Exam and its nuances in the last CTET Online Exams.

Despite CBSE not mentioning the exact reason for the decision, the chances are that all these reasons have culminated in the switching of the CTET Exam from online to offline mode.
