Which one you choose : KVS or NVS ?

KVS & NVS : Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) both are big institutions with big teaching and non teaching job opportunities. KVS and NVS are working under the Ministry of human resource and development ( MHRD ) and are fully funded by central government. Recently, NVS has released 2200 teaching vacancies and KVS has released 13404 teaching and non teaching vacancies this year. KVS and NVS, both are golden teaching recruitment opportunities which any candidate does not want to miss.

KVS and NVS, are two big organizations that conduct teaching and non teaching recruitment examinations annually for various posts: the Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs), Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs), Primary Teachers (PRTs) and non teaching posts in all over India. KVS and NVS both are famous and big school institutions but a common question always raised by the aspirants is which one amongst is the best? To conclude this, we must first understand the difference in the recruitment process, salary structure, examination pattern etc.

Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS)

Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) contains central government schools under the Ministry of Human Resource Development. This system firstly authorized in 1965 with the name of ‘Central Schools’ and after some time affiliated with CBSE as well and the name of this Sangathan changed to Kendriya Vidyalaya.

Is KVS exam tough?

KVS Exam Pattern :

KVS has released revised examination pattern which includes written exam, demo teaching and interview process. The weightage of written test , demo teaching and interview will be 70 : 30 for the post of PGT, TGT & PRT

KVS Exam Pattern For TGT PGT PRT:

  • There are 4 parts in KVS examination
    Part – I: General English, General Hindi,
    Part – II: General Awareness & Current Affairs, Reasoning Ability, Computer Literacy
    Part – III: Perspectives on Education and Leadership
    Part – IV: Subject Concerned

• The time allotted to solve 180 questions in 180 min in the PRT, TGT & PGT exam
• There is no negative marking in the exam.

Navodaya Vidalaya Samiti (NVS)

Navodaya Vidalaya Samiti (NVS) is an government organization controlled by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Secondary & Higher Education, Government of India. Hon’ble Minister of Human Resource Development is the Chairman of NVS.

Comparison between KVS and NVS

Now lets check it out the comparison between KVS and NVS. Both are good in their own dimensions. But there are many points which make them differ and makes us easy to understand their works and environment in different ways.

KVS Cut-off : KVS PGT/TGT/PRT Previous Year Cut Off

Kendriya Vidyalaya

  1. Those schools have the one specific thing they were known about is that they always give priority to the children of central government employees, Defence personnel and All India Personal. If seat lefts after this scenario only then other children will take admission.
  2. The medium of study is Hindi as well as English as per students convenience.
  3. These schools gives preparation for All India secondary Examination conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi.
  4. Depending on their work performance, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan teachers may get an opportunity to work in the KVS Schools located outside India; however, no such opportunity is available for the NVS Teachers.
  5. KVS teachers can appear for internal departmental exams and be promoted until the post of HOD. Other promotions include Principal, Asst. commissioner, deputy commissioner, etc. KVS Teachers can also get promoted to the level of Principal on the basis of departmental examinations.
  6. Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan teachers have to serve for a designated time in remote parts of India, which may cause difficulties for the teaching personnel in adjusting to the food, culture, and values of that area.
  7. If both working spouse in the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan Schools, they can mutually transfer to the common state. It can’t be possible in Delhi govt. school.
  8. Teachers recruit for these schools have to be highly qualified and offer with good salaries and service conditions.
  9. They give benefits to children of SC, ST and Ex-military person’s and provide them free education.
  10. Some school in KVS are work in both shifts i.e. evening and morning
  11. No tuition fee for boys upto Class VIII, girls upto Class XII and SC/ST students and children of KVS employees.

Navodaya Vidyalaya

  1. The admission procedure into these schools based on a test conducted in the concerned district by CBSE and only allow to take admission on the level of class 6th.
  2. Those children who cleared their 5th class are eligible in order to appearing for this test.
  3. There are some reservations of seats for SC, ST as well.
  4. They are for both boys as well as girls.
  5. The uniforms, books, lodging are provided for free in these schools.
  6. These are under CBSE and students got education as per the rules and regulations of CBSE.
  7. These schools took classes from 6th class up to 12th
  8. There is a specific thing in Navodaya Vidalaya is that up to class 7th they provide education in their mother-tongue and after class 7th, the medium of class should be English or Hindi as per student convenience.
  9. Navodaya Vidyalaya is a co-educational  residential institution providing free  boarding and lodging, free school uniforms, text books, stationery, and to and fro rail and bus fare to students.
  10. There is provision for rural children with reservation of at least 75% seats .
  11. 1/3 of the seats are filled by girl students. 3% of the seats are for disabled children.
  12. Entry to  Navodaya Vidyalaya is made in Class-VI  with lateral entry in  Classes- IX & XI.
  13. a nominal fee @  Rs. 600/- per month is charged from the boys of Classes- IX to XII as Vidyalaya Vikas Nidhi except from the students of exempted category.
  14. NVS released vacancies for North East Region Separately
  15. In North East Region, Candidate have to work for 7 yr which can not be transferred.

From the above points we got all the information about both KVS as well as NVS. Now both have their own qualities and dimensions. There are pros and cons of everything , here we are discussion some points:

  • The NVS are less in count than KVS. Total NVS -576 and Total KVS-1225.
  • KVS has easily accessible and in districts but it is difficult to find a NVS nearby your hometown.
  • As per working hours, KVS working hours are 6 to 7 hours and NVS is 24 hours working institution because of residential system.
  • Kendriya Vidyalaya is one of the largest chain of schools in India with three branches abroad but NVS only works in india.
  • KVS Schools in different zones may have different school timings, which may require some adjustment on the part of the teacher in case of transfer. NVS has also school in different areas but they provide all facilities in school.
  • If both working spouse in the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan Schools, they can mutually transfer to the common state. NVS do that in some special cases.
  • KVS released vacancies for all over India and NVS release vacancies in 2 parts i.e. North East Region and Other States

If one wants to take all things in parallel then KVS is better but if one wants to do something more in the educational field then they should have to go for NVS. As we all know that the selection procedure of students in NVS is different than in KVS. NVS conduct a test in order to test the skills of students and only selected students will able to take admission. So both are good in their ways for education, sports and culture wise.

Every person has their own perspective in life and thoughts of each and every person is different. So as per the above points you can easily able to know which one is better.
