What Is NIOS?

National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) is a national board of education in India for distance education. It administers the exams for Secondary and Senior Secondary Levels. Every year about 3,50,000 enrolls to the NIOS making it the largest open schooling system in the world. It offers flexible and continuous education to students who wish to continue their education through open and distance learning courses and systems. This helps students to obtain education at their own pace and time frame. Students who had to discontinue their education for medical issues, or financial constraints can easily continue their education when they are able to do so.

What is NIOS D.El.Ed?

The NIOS D.EI.Ed is a 2 years course specially designed for the candidates who seek training as teachers to teach in primary schools across the country. There is a specified course for different states of the country. The main objective of NIOS D.EI.Ed is to help to teach aspirants to learn and develop adequate skills and knowledge to make the process of teaching and learning more effective. The eligibility criteria for the NIOS D.EI.Ed is similar to that of the regular D.EI.Ed courses.

NIOS D.El.Ed 2023 Eligibility Criteria

Primary The minimum eligibility criteria is 10+2/HS with 50% marks in aggregate. 5% relaxation for SC/ST/PH/OBC.

NIOS D.El.Ed 2023 Admission Process

The candidates can visit the official website of NIOS D.EI.Ed for apply for the NIOS D.EI.Ed course. The application form is available on the website. The admission process is conducted twice a year. The candidates have to appear for an examination to get admission in the NIOS D.EI.Ed course. The admit card or hall ticket will be issued one week before the examination.

Q. Can I get a job as a teacher after completing NIOS DElEd?

A. No. NIOS DElEd is only valid for candidates who are already working as a professional teacher in any institution or organization but doesn’t have any formal teacher’s training.

Q. Can art teachers apply for NIOS D.El.Ed courses?

A. Yes, any teacher who is presently teaching elementary grade in any institution or organization can pursue NIOS D.El.Ed

Q. Can guest teachers apply for the NIOS DElEd course?

A. Yes, any untrained elementary teachers who are in service can apply for this course.

Q. Is D.El.Ed course mandatory?

A. DElEd is mandatory for all in-service teachers at the primary level and for graduate only teachers at the upper primary level. This has been implied in accordance with the necessary qualifications mandated by NCTE under the RTE Act, 2009.
