IIFT PhD Eligibility Criteria 2026

IIFT has set clear eligibility rules for the PhD programme. Those in the final year of their Master’s can also apply on a provisional basis. There is no age limit to apply.

IIFT PhD Selection Process 2026

The selection process for IIFT PhD 2026 is based on UGC NET scores and a personal interview. There is no separate entrance exam. JRF-qualified candidates get direct interview calls. The process is transparent and merit-based.

Candidates qualifying for JRF are called directly for an interview
Shortlisting for the interview is based on available seats

Selection weightage:

70% – UGC NET Score
30% – Personal Interview performance

Three categories are considered:

Category 1: JRF qualified – eligible for PhD with JRF + Assistant Professor post
Category 2: NET qualified (no JRF) -eligible for PhD + Assistant Professor post
Category 3: NET qualified – eligible for PhD only
Accepted UGC NET subject codes: 4 (Psychology), 8 (Commerce), 17 (Management), 55 (Labour Welfare and HRM), 93 (Tourism & Management)

IIFT PhD Fellowship 2026

Full-Time PhD scholars at IIFT receive a monthly fellowship to support their studies. The amount increases after two years based on academic performance. Part-Time scholars do not receive a fellowship. The fellowship is subject to a half-yearly performance review.
