GIMS Faculty Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria

The education qualification, age limit and experience requirements are based on National Medical Commission (NMC) Guidelines. The exact eligibility can vary according to the post and medical department.

Professor Eligibility

For general departments, candidates generally need a PG degree such as MD/MS/DNB in the concerned subject. For applicable subjects such as Medical Microbiology and Pharmacology, the notification also provides qualification routes involving M.Sc. with Ph.D.

Candidates generally need:

• 3 years of experience as an Associate Professor in a recognized medical institution.
• At least 2 research publications as an Associate Professor.
• Completion of the Basic Course in Biomedical Research.

Associate Professor Eligibility

Candidates generally require a relevant MD/MS/DNB or applicable equivalent qualification.

The experience requirement generally include:

• 4 years of experience as an Assistant Professor.
• 5 years of experience if directly appointed in a Government medical institution.
• At least 2 research publications as an Assistant Professor.
• Completion of the Basic Course in Biomedical Research.

Assistant Professor Eligibility

Candidates generally need a relevant PG degree such as MD/MS/DNB.

For general departments, the key experience requirement is:

• 1 year as a Senior Resident in the concerned subject in a recognised medical institution.

The notification also provides alternative or relaxed routes for certain categories such as Tutors, Demonstrators, non-teaching Consultants and Diploma holders, subject to the prescribed NMC conditions.

Emergency Medicine Eligibility

For emergency medicine, separate qualification and experience conditions apply.

Super-Speciality Departments

For super-speciality departments, candidates generally require D.M./DNB/DrNB or M.Ch/DNB/DrNB in the concerned super-speciality, along with the prescribed teaching experience and required research/medical education courses.
