The Supreme Court of India has definitively ruled that candidates holding a BEd qualification will not be eligible to participate in the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) Teacher Recruitment 2023 for the Primary Teacher (PRT) posts. Since the notification by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) in 2018 has been released, various recruitment organizations and Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) conducting bodies have allowed BEd-qualified candidates to apply for teaching positions, including those in Bihar.

The matter took a decisive turn on 28 August 2023, when the Supreme Court of India issued an order, directing the State of Bihar to adhere to its verdict, which had been released on 11 August 2023. As a result of this legal pronouncement, it has become abundantly clear that BEd-qualified candidates who had applied for the PRT posts will not be allowed to proceed with the BPSC Teacher Recruitment 2023, effectively disqualifying their candidacies.
