PSTET Eligibility Criteria 2026 For Papers 1 & 2

The PSEB has released the PSTET eligibility criteria 2026 for Primary and Upper Primary Teachers posts. The Punjab TET eligibility criteria for 2026 are mentioned below in-depth table.

Paper	Educational Qualification
PSTET Paper 1: Class I to V (Primary)	Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education/4- a year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)/2- a year Diploma in Education (Special Education). Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2- a year Diploma in Elementary Education, in accordance with the NCTE. Candidates who possessed “Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed)” are now eligible for becoming Teachers for Classes I-V: Primary Stage. Such Candidates has mandatory to undergo a six-month Bridge Course in Elementary Education recognized by the NCTE, within two years of such appointment as a primary teacher.
PSTET Paper 2: Class VI to VIII (Upper Primary)	Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education/ 1- year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed)/B.Ed. (Special Education). Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), per the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure). Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4- year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)/4- year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed. Any candidate having qualified B.Ed Programme recognized by the NCTE is eligible to appear in TET exam.
