KARTET Eligibility Criteria

The Karnataka Teachers Eligibility Test (KARTET) is conducted by the Education Department of Karnataka. The state-level exam is conducted once a year in offline mode. For further clarity, the candidates must go through the following table.

Candidates wishing to apply for the KARTET Exam 2025 must carefully review the Karnataka TET Eligibility Criteria to ensure they meet all requirements before submitting their application. Failing to comply with these eligibility conditions may lead to rejection or disqualification, and the application fees will not be refunded. Proper verification of eligibility helps candidates avoid last-minute issues and ensures a smooth application process for the KARTET 2025 exam. Hence, it is of paramount importance to read and understand the eligibility criteria before submitting the KARTET Application Form for which the application window closes on 9 November 2025.

(Paper-I) : Required minimum qualification (for teaching class 1 to 5)

• PUC / Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).  OR
• PUC / Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year or 4th year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed). OR
• Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2- year Diploma in Education (Special Education). OR
• Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).

(Paper-II) : Required minimum qualification (for teaching class 6 to 8)

• Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known). OR
• Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed). OR
• PUC / Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4- year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed). OR
• PUC / Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4- year B.A.Ed /B.Sc.Ed. OR
• Graduation with at least 50% marks and passing or appearing in Final-year B.Ed. (Special Education).

Note: Relaxation of up to 5% in the qualifying marks in the minimum Educational Qualification meant for eligibility shall be allowed to the candidates belonging to reserved categories, such as SC / ST / C-I / Differently abled.
