Bihar STET 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the qualification criteria set by BSEB before applying for Bihar STET 2026. The eligibility differs slightly for Paper 1 and Paper 2 candidates, based on the level of teaching they wish to pursue.

1. Educational Qualification

• Paper I (Secondary Level – Classes 9–10)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant subject with at least 50% marks from a recognised university.
  • B.Ed. degree from an NCTE-recognized institution (or a 4-year Integrated BA-B.Ed / B.Sc-B.Ed degree).
• Paper II (Senior Secondary Level – Classes 11–12):
  • Master’s Degree (PG) in the relevant subject with at least 50% marks from a recognised university.
  • B.Ed. degree from an NCTE-recognized institution.

Age Limit and Relaxation

BSEB has set an upper age limit for candidates applying to Bihar STET 2026. Age relaxation is given to reserved category candidates as per Bihar government rules. Minimum Age: 21 years as on 01 August 2026.

Age relaxation, the reduced qualifying marks, and the fee concession shown below are available only to candidates who are permanent residents (domicile) of Bihar. Candidates from outside Bihar, irrespective of category, will be treated as General category male candidates for all these purposes.

How to Apply for Bihar STET 2026?

Candidates need to follow a simple online process to fill out the Bihar STET 2026 application form. Keep scanned copies of a photograph, signatures, and educational certificates ready before starting the form. Below are the steps to apply.

• Register using basic details such as name, a working email ID, and mobile number, and generate the OTP to
• complete registration. A User ID and Password will be sent to the registered mobile number.

• Pay the application fee online via Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI.
• Use the “Preview” option to recheck all entered details before final submission, and use “Save” if any correction is needed.

Bihar STET 2026 will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode for both Paper 1 and Paper 2. The exam pattern remains largely similar across sessions, though candidates should confirm the final structure from the official notification.

Bihar STET Normalization of Scores

Bihar STET 2026 will be held across multiple shifts/dates in CBT mode, BSEB will apply a Normalization process to the results. Candidates’ final scores will be based on their Normalized Score, not their Raw Score (marks obtained from correct answers), to ensure no candidate gains or loses due to difficulty-level variation between shifts. Even though there is no negative marking, an unusually high number of wrong answers can still pull down the Normalized Score. Passing or failing will be decided using the Normalized Score against the qualifying percentage shown above.
