Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) will give priority to guest teachers in the upcoming Teacher Recruitment Examination Round 4 (TRE-4). The Education Department has officially written to BPSC confirming this decision. Reserved subject-wise seats for women, differently-abled candidates, and relatives of freedom fighters are also expected. Here is everything you need to know about this major update.
Guest Teachers Get Priority in BPSC TRE-4
BPSC is set to release the advertisement for TRE-4 with a clear priority for guest teachers. Just like previous recruitment cycles, those who have worked as guest teachers in schools will again receive priority marks this time.
A teacher who has worked as a guest teacher in schools for one year will get 2 marks, and the maximum bonus marks a guest teacher can receive is 10 marks as per their guest teacher experience. This weightage makes guest teachers significantly more competitive in the selection process.
The Education Department has already sent a letter to Bihar Lok Seva Aayog (BPSC) in this regard, and the advertisement will be released on this basis.

Reserved Seats for Categories
BPSC has received a formal request from the Education Department to reserve subject-wise seats as per the roster for three special categories:
- Differently-abled candidates (Divyang)
- Relatives of freedom fighters (Swatantrata Senani)
- Women candidates
Bihar Lok Seva Aayog is in active talk with the Education Department to finalise these subject-wise reserved seats. Candidates from these categories are currently waiting for the subject-wise seat matrix to be released before the advertisement goes live.
Service Booklet Order for Appointed Teachers
Patna District Education Office has issued an important directive to the principals of all government, project, and secondary higher secondary schools. Teachers appointed through TRE-1 and TRE-2 must now get their service booklets (service books) opened.
District Program Officer Dr. Mohammed Jamal Mustafa stated that the probation period of TRE-1 and TRE-2 appointed secondary and higher secondary school teachers is nearly complete. Therefore, before the new advertisement is released, everything must be cleared so that candidates face no confusion or difficulty.
Points to be Recorded in the Service Booklet
The service booklet must include all essential entries within 15 days and be submitted to the district office.
The following details are mandatory to be recorded in service booklet:
- Leave records : including Leave Without Pay (LWP), study leave, long absence, childcare leave, maternity leave, and medical leave.
- e-Kosh and HRMS entries along with manual records, which are compulsory.
- Any disciplinary action or departmental proceedings against a teacher must also be noted in the service booklet.
The DPO has made it clear that this process is mandatory so that salary revisions, leave amendments, and other routine procedures are not disrupted. Teachers must not delay in completing this process.
BPSC TRE-4 Exam Date and Total Vacancies
BPSC has received a total of 45,595 vacancies for TRE-4. Bihar Lok Seva Aayog has announced a tentative exam schedule of September 22 to 27 for conducting the examination.
