Assam University, Silchar has released Employment Notification No. 2/2026 dated 26th May 2026 for the recruitment of teaching faculty. The university is inviting online applications from eligible candidates for the posts of Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor across various departments at its Silchar and Diphu campuses. Assam University Faculty Vacancy 2026

Assam University has announced a total of 123 teaching vacancies across different levels and departments for both the Silchar and Diphu campuses. The vacancies are spread across many subjects such as Chemistry, Physics, Education, Commerce, Law, Computer Science, Ecology, Sanskrit, and many more.

Note: Vacancies include fresh posts, backlog reserved posts, and leave vacancies. The exact number may change as the university reserves the right to increase or decrease posts.

The application process for Assam University Teaching Recruitment 2026 is fully online. Candidates must follow all the steps in the right order to complete their application. After online submission, a hard copy of the application must be printed and sent to the university by post. Read every step carefully to avoid mistakes.

Step 1 – Visit the Official Portal
Go to the official recruitment portal at https://curec.samarth.ac.in on your browser.
Step 2 – Register Yourself
If you are a new user, register on the CU-Chayan portal first using your valid email ID and mobile number. You will receive your login credentials on your email.
Step 3 – Log In to Your Account
Use your registered email and password to log in to the portal. If your browser closes unexpectedly, use the login details sent to your email to log back in.
Step 4 – Fill the Online Application Form
Open the application form and fill in all mandatory fields carefully. The form has multiple tabs. After completing each tab, click on “Save and Proceed” to move to the next tab. No changes can be made after the final submission.
Step 5 – Upload Required Documents
Upload your passport-size photograph in JPG/JPEG/PNG format (file size must not exceed 100 KB) and your signature (also not exceeding 100 KB) at the required fields.
Step 6 – Pay the Application Fee
Pay the application fee online through Internet Banking, Debit Card, or Credit Card via the payment gateway. Check the fee amount for your category before paying.
Step 7 – Submit the Application Form
After filling all details and paying the fee, do the final submission. Once submitted, no changes are possible. A PDF of your application will be available for download.
Step 8 – Take a Print and Send Hard Copy

The Assam University Faculty application fee must be paid at the time of final online submission. Payment can be made online only through Internet Banking, Debit Card, or Credit Card.

Assam University Teaching Selection Process

Assam University will follow a structured selection process to ensure the right candidates are picked for teaching positions. The process is based on UGC guidelines and the university’s own ordinances. Below is the stages of Assam University Teaching Selection Process:

Stage 1 – Screening of Applications
All applications received will first be checked for eligibility by duly constituted Screening Committees. Applications that do not meet the essential qualifications or are incomplete will be rejected at this stage.
Stage 2 – Shortlisting
If the number of applications is large, the university may conduct a written test or use a merit-based marking system to shortlist candidates. Candidates with higher qualifications and better merit will be given preference.
Stage 3 – Call Letters
Shortlisted candidates will be informed through Speed Post / Registered Post or email. No correspondence will be made with candidates who are not shortlisted.
Stage 4 – Interview
Final selection will be done based on performance in the interview before the duly constituted Selection Committee as per UGC guidelines. Candidates appearing for Professor/Associate Professor posts will be reimbursed AC 3rd Tier train fare; those appearing for Assistant Professor posts will get Sleeper Class train fare (on production of tickets).
Stage 5 – Final Appointment
The university may also offer a post at a level lower than the one applied for, depending on qualifications and performance. A reserve/waiting panel may be created, which will be valid for one year from the date of approval.
