Ministry of Education has released the data regarding the vacant seats of all over India teaching posts. There are 17% teaching posts are vacant in Government schools. As Union Education Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal mentioned that the recruitment process of teachers are continuous and vacancies are keep arising due to retirement and additional recruitment on accounts of enhance students length.
There are total of 61.8 lakhs sanctioned posts in government schools in which 10.6 lakhs teaching post are vacant in all over india. Bihar has largest vacant post in government school which is 2.7 lakhs. In order for teaching vacancies , Uttar Pradesh has 2-1 lakh teaching post vacant in state.
There are many states which has lowest number of vacant teaching posts i.e. Mizoram (no vacancy), Maharashtra (0.8%), Tamil Nadu (1.4%), Punjab (2.2%), Gujarat (2.6%), Nagaland (2.7%) and Kerala (2.8%). Arunacha Pradesh, Tripura, Odisha and Meghalaya too have vacancy percentage lower than 5%.
Some state have more than 20% teaching vacancies which include Jharkhand (40.1%), Bihar (39.9%),Uttar Pradesh (28.8%), Uttarakhand (24.3%) and Chhattisgarh(21.7%).
As proposed by the National Education Policy 2020 approved recently,TET or NTA test scores will also be taken into account for the teacher recruitment process. Along with that, classroom demonstrations or interviews will serve as essential benchmarks in the selection of school teachers.
The TETs exam will also be extended to cover teachers across all stages (Foundational, Preparatory, Middle and Secondary) for standardized school education. For subject teachers, suitable TET or NTA test scores in the corresponding subjects will also be taken into account for the teacher recruitment process. NEP 2020 state that “To gauge passion and motivation for teaching, a classroom demonstration or interview will become an integral part of teacher hiring at schools and school complexes”
