SSC CHSL Notification 2026 Out for 2536 Vacancies, Apply Online Starts at ssc.gov.in

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has notified 2,536 vacancies through the SSC Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Exam Notification 2026. Applications are now open on the official website, ssc.gov.in, with candidates able to apply until 7 October 2026.

Eligible candidates must have passed Class 12 and fall within the 18 to 27 years age bracket, with age relaxation available for reserved categories. The selection process is spread across two stages: Tier 1 and Tier 2. While SSC has not yet confirmed the exact exam date, it is expected to be conducted in early 2027.

This recruitment drive aims to fill various Group C posts, including LDC, JSA, and DEO, across different Ministries, Departments, and Offices under the Government of India.

What is SSC CHSL Exam Date 2026-27?

The official SSC CHSL 2026 notification does not mention the exact exam date, but Tier 1 is expected to be held around January – February 2027. This is because SSC is currently busy conducting other ongoing exams, SSC Stenographer, SSC JHT, and Selection Post Phase 14, and the SSC CGL 2026 exam date, which is yet to be announced, is likely to stretch across October – December 2026.

So, the beginning of 2027 appears to be the most probable window for the SSC CHSL Tier 1 2026 exam to be conducted.

SSC CHSL City Exam City

Before the admit card, SSC releases a City Intimation Slip, informing candidates only of the city where their exam centre will be located.

It is usually released 8-10 days before the exam and it helps candidates plan travel and accommodation in advance. Candidates can download it from the official SSC regional website by logging in with registration details

SSC CHSL 2026 Admit Card

The Admit Card carries the exact exam centre address, shift timing, and reporting instructions, and is mandatory for entry to the exam hall.

It will be released 2-3 days before the individual exam date. Candidates can download it same way as city intimation slip.

SSC CHSL Application Correction Window

In the official notification, SSC has mentioned the application correction window which is stretched upto 3 days. The window will be open from 14th to 16th October 2026 (11 PM) where candidates can make corrections or modify details in the already submitted form. SSC will notify the window activation once the application submission is over.

Educational Qualification

• Candidates must have passed Class 12 (10+2) or equivalent from a recognised Board or University.
• For the Data Entry Operator (DEO) post at the Office of CAG, Candidates must have passed Class 12 in Science stream with Mathematics as a subject.
• Candidates who are appearing in the Class 12 exam and awaiting results are not eligible.

To be eligible for SSC CHSL 2026, candidates must be between 18 to 27 years old as on 1/8/2026.

SSC CHSL Tier 1 (Prelims) Exam Pattern

Tier-I is an online objective-type exam consisting of four sections: English Language, General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Awareness.

• Each section carries 25 questions for 50 marks, making a total of 100 questions for 200 marks.
• Sectional timers have been introduced. Each subject now has a fixed 15-minute time limit.
• Total exam duration is 60 minutes (80 minutes for scribe-eligible candidates, with 20 minutes allotted per subject).
• There is negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer.
• Tier-I is qualifying in nature and used to shortlist candidates for Tier-II.

SSC CHSL Tier 2 (Mains) Exam Pattern

• Tier-II is also an online-mode Exam conducted across two sessions on the same day.
• Session-I (2 hours 15 minutes) covers Section-I, Section-II, and Section-III, all objective in nature.
• Session-II consists of Section-IV, the Skill Test/Typing Test, which is qualifying in nature.
• Sectional timers apply within Session-I
• Negative marking of 1 mark applies for each wrong answer in Sections I, II, and III.

SSC CHSL 2026 Skill/Typing Test

Section III for the SSC CHSL includes the Skill Test/Typing Test, which is conducted in Session II on the same day as the other tests.

This test is qualifying, and its evaluation follows the guidelines provided on the Commission’s website.
