Every year, ECGC, under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, conducts the ECGC PO Exam, a national-level recruitment process for appointing Probationary Officers in the Generalist and Rajbhasha (Official Language) streams. For the financial year 2025–26, ECGC has announced 30 vacancies, including 28 Generalist and 2 Specialist posts.

The recruitment process consists of an online examination (objective and descriptive) followed by an interview. Selected candidates will handle responsibilities related to export credit insurance, risk management, and trade finance operations.

ECGC PO Vacancy 2025 Details

The examination board has released a total of 30 vacancies for the post of Probationary Officer.  The vacancy distribution shows no backlog vacancies across any category. However, out of the total new vacancies, 12 for Unreserved categories and the rest are divided as per the reservation criteria. These numbers may change based on the company’s operational requirements.

ECGC PO Eligibility Criteria

The ECGC PO Eligibility Criteria are determined by three key factors: nationality, age limit, and educational qualification. To be considered for the Probationary Officer position, candidates must meet all these specified requirements. The detailed eligibility conditions are provided below:

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university or institution. A valid degree certificate or mark sheet must be available at the time of registration to verify the qualification.

ECGC PO Age Limit (As on 1/11/2025)

To apply for ECGC PO Recruitment 2025, candidates must be at least 21 years old and not older than 30 years. Age relaxation for reserved category candidates will be provided as per the Government of India norms.

A candidate must have been born not earlier than 02.11.1995 and not later than 01.11.2004 (both the dates inclusive).

ECGC PO Nationality / Citizenship

A candidate must be one of the following:

  • A citizen of India, or
  • A subject of Nepal, or
  • A subject of Bhutan, or
  • A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or East African countries such as Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

The handwritten declaration must be written personally by the candidate in English only and should not be in capital letters. The prescribed text is as follows:-

ECGC PO Selection Process

The ECGC PO Notification 2025 selection process will be conducted in two stages: an Online Examination followed by an Interview.

ECGC PO Exam Pattern 2025

The ECGC PO Exam 2025 will be held in online mode and will comprise both Objective and Descriptive papers. To progress to the next stage of the selection process, candidates must qualify in both sections of the exam.

Objective Paper Exam Pattern

The Objective Test is a computer-based examination featuring 200 questions worth a total of 200 marks. The exam duration is 2 hours and 20 minutes (140 minutes). A negative marking of 0.25 marks will be applied for each wrong answer. Candidates must plan and manage their time efficiently across all sections to maximise their scores. There is a section of Professional knowledge in the Specialist post exam, different from the generalist post.

ECGC PO Descriptive Paper Exam Pattern

Candidates who qualify the Objective Test will appear in a Descriptive Test of 40 marks, with a duration of 40 minutes. The descriptive section assesses writing skills through Essay and Precise Writing.

ECGC PO Salary (Revised)

The starting salary of an ECGC Probationary Officer (PO) is Rs. 88,635 per month. Selected candidates will be offered a pay scale of Rs. 88,635-4385(14)- 150025-4750(4)-169025, which includes various allowances and benefits. The current CTC of PO posted at Mumbai is Rs 20,00,000 per annum.
