JTET Eligibility Criteria 2026

The JTET exam has separate conditions for Paper I and Paper II. JAC has set these rules so that only the right and capable candidates become teachers. The eligibility includes your age, your studies, and your nationality. Here are the key eligibility points for JTET 2026:

  • You must be an Indian citizen.
  • You must be at least 21 years old. There is no upper age limit.
  • You must have the right educational qualification for Paper I or Paper II.
  • Candidates who are still studying in the final year of a teacher training course can also apply.
  • General category candidates must have passed Class 10th or 12th from a recognised school in Jharkhand. They should also have knowledge of Jharkhand’s language, culture, and environment.
  • Reserved category candidates (SC/ST/OBC/PwD) are exempt from the Jharkhand school condition.
  • There is no limit on the number of attempts. You can appear as many times as you want.
  • No prior teaching experience is required. Both freshers and experienced candidates can apply.
  • Candidates with special education qualifications (like D.Ed Special Education) are also eligible. They must have a valid RCI registration number wherever applicable.
  • Candidates who applied in JTET 2024 and completed the full application process can reapply without paying the exam fee again for JTET 2026.
