JMI PhD Selection Process

The selection process for JMI PhD Admission 2025-26 includes multiple stages to ensure transparency and merit-based admission.

1. Entrance Test

• Conducted by the Controller of Examinations, the entrance exam will serve as a qualifying test for non-exempted candidates.
• It consists of two papers i.e. Paper I (Research Methodology, 100 objective questions, 2 hours) and Paper II (Subject-specific, 3 hours).
• Candidates must score at least 50% marks in aggregate across both papers to qualify for the interview.

2. Exemption from Entrance Test

Candidates who have qualified UGC/CSIR-NET/JRF, AYUSH-NET, GATE, or other equivalent national-level tests are exempted from the entrance test. However, they must appear for the interview conducted by the respective departments.

3. Interview and Research Proposal

• Shortlisted candidates (including exempted ones) will be invited for an interview between 10 to 19 December 2025.
• During the interview, applicants will present their research proposal, demonstrate their research aptitude, and discuss potential areas of study.
• To qualify, candidates must secure a minimum of 40% marks in the interview.

4. Final Selection

The final merit list will be prepared based on the combined performance in the entrance test and interview, along with the availability of supervisors and seats. The list will be displayed on the university website on 22 December 2025.
