As per the latest update, the HTET is expected to be conducted in January 2026, with exams scheduled on 17 and 18 January 2026. The examination will be held for all three levels, Level 1 for Primary Teachers (PRT), Level 2 for Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT), and Level 3 for Post Graduate Teachers (PGT). HTET to be Held Twice in 2026

In a major shift, BSEH plans to conduct HTET twice in 2026, once in January and again in November. This move is aimed at giving candidates more chances and reducing the pressure of a single annual attempt.

The decision also reflects lessons learned from previous years. HTET 2024 could not be held as scheduled and was finally conducted on 30/07/2025 and 31/07/2025. The results highlighted the need for better planning and preparation support. Out of nearly 3.31 lakh candidates, only about 47,000 qualified, taking the overall pass percentage to just 14%. Level-wise performance showed 16.2% success in Level 1, 16.4% in Level 2, and only 9.6% in Level 3.

By holding HTET twice a year, the board aims to improve accessibility, allow re-attempts within the same year, and help serious aspirants prepare in a more structured manner.
