HP PhD Eligibility Criteria

The Himachal Pradesh University invites applications for admission to its PhD Programme for the academic session 2025–26. Admission is based on a valid NET certificate and the scores obtained in NET, subject to fulfillment of the prescribed eligibility criteria. Applicants are advised to carefully review all conditions and ensure their eligibility before applying.

Master’s Degree Holders	Candidates who have completed a 1-year/2-semester Master’s degree after a 4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s degree, with 55% of marks OR A 2-year/4-semester Master’s degree after a 3-year Bachelor’s degree with 55% of marks. an equivalent qualification from a recognized foreign educational institution.
M.Phil. Degree Holders	Candidates who have completed an M.Phil. programme with minimum 55% marks in aggregate or an equivalent grade, OR equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an approved and recognized assessment and accreditation agency.
For International Students	Himachal Pradesh University will have its own selection procedure for Ph.D. admission of international students keeping in view the guidelines/norms in this regard issued by statutory/regulatory bodies concerned from time to time.

HPU PhD Selection Process

The selection for Himachal Pradesh University PhD Admission 2025–26 is carried out on the basis of a combined merit of valid NET scores followed by interview performance. The following aspects shall be considered during the interview
