EMRS PGT Eligibility Criteria 2025

The following table outlines the essential eligibility criteria for the position of Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) in Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS). Candidates must satisfy all conditions related to the age limit and essential educational qualifications for the specific subject they are applying for. Age relaxations are applicable as per the prevailing Government of India rules for reserved categories and existing EMRS employees.

PGT Post-Wise Qualification	PGT (English): Master’s Degree in English. PGT (Hindi): Master’s Degree in Hindi. PGT (Mathematics): Master’s Degree in Mathematics or its specialization. Must have studied Mathematics at the Graduation level. PGT (Physics): Master’s Degree in Physics or its specialization. Must have studied Physics at the graduate level. PGT (Chemistry): Master’s Degree in Chemistry or its specialization. Must have studied Chemistry at the graduate level. PGT (Biology): Master’s Degree in Biology / Zoology / Botany or their specialization. Must have studied Biology/Zoology/Botany at the Graduation level. PGT (History): Master’s Degree in History or its specialization. Must have studied History at the graduate level. PGT (Geography): Master’s Degree in Geography or its specialization. Must have studied Geography at the graduate level. PGT (Commerce): Master’s Degree in Commerce. Must have studied Accountancy and Business Studies at the Graduation level. Note: Holders of an M.Com. Students in Economics are not eligible. PGT (Economics): Master’s Degree in Economics or its specialization. Must have studied Economics at the graduate level. PGT (Computer Science): Essential Qualification: M.Sc. (Computer Science/IT) / MCA / M.E. or M.Tech. (Computer Science/IT) with at least 50% marks. A B.Ed. A degree will be required for future promotions.
Desirable	Experience as a TGT in a recognized institution in the concerned subject. Experience of working in a residential school. Knowledge of Computer Applications.
Age Limit	Maximum Age (General)- 40 Yr SC/ST/OBC: As per the Govt. of India rules. EMRS Employees: Up to 55 years. Absolute Cap: 55 years for all.

EMRS PGT Exam Pattern 2025

The EMRS PGT Recruitment 2025 follows a two-tier selection process to evaluate candidates’ academic knowledge, teaching aptitude, reasoning skills, and language proficiency. Tier I is a preliminary qualifying exam in OMR (objective) mode, while Tier II is the main subject knowledge examination that determines the final merit for PGT posts. Tier-I – Preliminary Examination (OMR Mode – Total 100 Marks)

Purpose: Qualifying exam for shortlisting candidates for Tier-II.
Components: General Awareness, Reasoning Ability, ICT Knowledge, Teaching Aptitude, Domain Knowledge (Experiential & NEP-2020 based)
Language Competency (English & Hindi – qualifying in nature; minimum 40% marks)

Candidates failing the language competency test will not have their Tier-I scores evaluated.

Only candidates shortlisted from Tier-I (ratio 1:10 against vacancies) appear.
