DTU Assistant Professor Selection Process

DTU selects candidates in stages. The first stage is automatic screening of applications on a 100-point scale, based on the details the candidate fills in Table-II. The score has three parts: Ph.D. (30), Pre-Ph.D. degree (60) and qualifying test (10). The Pre-Ph.D. score follows the formula 35 + 0.5 (X − 50), where X is the percentage in the Pre-Ph.D. degree.

Criteria Maximum Score

Pre-Ph.D. degree (minimum two-year degree named in the Recruitment Rules) 60
UG/PG scholarship test (UGC/CSIR-NET JRF, GATE, CEED) in the relevant field 10
Total 100

Stages of selection:

  • Auto-screening on the 100-point scale, followed by a consideration-zone list of up to 1.2 times the number of candidates to be shortlisted.
  • Submission of the signed printout and self-attested documents by candidates in the zone, in a sealed envelope.
  • Provisional shortlist of a maximum of (4 + 8X) candidates, where X is the number of advertised posts in that discipline and category.
  • Document and Point Mark Verification with original documents.
  • Presentation to assess teaching aptitude and ability.
  • Interview before the Selection Committee for domain knowledge.

DTU bases the final selection on academic record, experience and research performance, teaching aptitude, domain knowledge and interview performance. Candidates who miss a required document are not allowed to appear in the presentation and interview.
