The wait is finally over for lakhs of teaching aspirants. The Central Board of Secondary Education has officially announced the CTET Exam Date 2026 for the 21st edition of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test. As per the clarification by CBSE, they will conduct CTET Exam 2026 on 7 and 8 Feb 2026 in two shifts offline mode due to the overwhelming number of applicants in this session.
CTET remains one of the most important eligibility exams for candidates aiming to teach Primary (classes I to V) and Upper Primary (Classes VI to VIII) in government and aided schools. Knowing the exact exam date, shift timing, and duration well in advance helps avoid last-minute confusion and stress.
CTET Exam Date 2026 Out
As per the latest official notification, CBSE will conduct the CTET 2026 on 07 and 08 February 2026. Earlier, the exam was scheduled only for 08 February 2026. Due to the large number of applications received, CBSE decided to extend the examination to two days. The exam will be held in two shifts each day, covering both Paper 1 and Paper 2. The test will take place across 140 cities nationwide, ensuring wider accessibility for candidates.
Candidates must carefully check the date and paper mentioned on their admit card, as no request for change in exam date, city, or centre will be accepted under any circumstances.
CTET Exam Schedule 2026
CBSE has released the complete paper-wise and shift-wise CTET Exam Schedule 2026. Both papers will be conducted in offline mode using OMR sheets. Paper 2 will be conducted in the morning shift, while Paper 1 will be held in the afternoon shift on both days.

CTET Exam Day Instructions
Candidates appearing for CTET 2026 must follow the exam day instructions issued by CBSE without exception. These guidelines are in place to ensure a smooth and fair conduct of the examination. Entry to the examination centre is strictly based on the reporting time mentioned on the admit card, and no candidate will be allowed to enter after the exam has started. Reaching the centre on time and carrying the required documents is essential to avoid last-minute stress.
- Entry to the examination centre is permitted only within the reporting time mentioned on the CTET Admit Card 2026
- Late entry after the commencement of the exam will not be allowed under any circumstances
- Candidates must carry a printed copy of the CTET Admit Card 2026 along with a valid photo ID proof
- Electronic gadgets, study material, notes, or any prohibited items are not allowed inside the exam hall
- Reach the examination centre well in advance to complete security checks smoothly
- Follow all instructions given by the invigilators to ensure a hassle-free examination experience
Request a change in CTET exam Date or Centre?
Candidates cannot request any change in the CTET exam date or examination centre once it has been allotted. CBSE clearly states that no requests for modification in exam date, city, or centre will be accepted under any circumstances. Candidates must appear for the examination strictly as per the details mentioned on their admit card and are advised to check all information carefully in advance.
