The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially cancelled the CTET 2026 Paper 2 examination at two centres in Bihar’s Vaishali district after serious delays in the delivery of question papers disrupted the exam process. While rumours of a nationwide cancellation spread quickly on social media, CBSE has clarified that the issue was limited, the exam was held smoothly at the vast majority of centres, and a re-examination will be conducted within 15 days for the affected candidates only.
CTET 2026 Paper 2 Cancelled at Two Centres in Bihar
CTET 2026 Paper 2 was scheduled to be conducted across 1,803 examination centres nationwide. According to CBSE, the exam was successfully held at 1,801 centres. However, it had to be cancelled at two centres in Vaishali district, Bihar, due to unavoidable logistical issues.
The affected centres are located in Hajipur, where candidates faced long waiting periods after the scheduled start time. As the delay stretched beyond one and a half hours, the situation became difficult to manage, making it impossible to conduct the examination fairly.

What Went Wrong at the Vaishali Examination Centres
At St John’s Academy, one of the affected centres, CTET Paper 2 was supposed to begin at 9:30 AM. Reports confirm that the question papers reached the centre only around 11:00 AM. By then, candidates had already waited for an extended period inside the examination hall.
The prolonged delay led to frustration among aspirants. Protests broke out inside the centre, and several candidates later staged demonstrations outside the premises. To prevent the situation from escalating further, local police personnel were deployed to maintain order.
Vaishali District Magistrate Varsha Singh confirmed that complaints were received from both centres. She stated that the question papers were dispatched from Patna on the same day but arrived nearly an hour late, making it impractical to conduct the examination.
CBSE Official Statement and Apology to Candidates
In its official clarification, CBSE acknowledged that CTET 2026 Paper 2 could not be held at the two centres in Vaishali (Hajipur) due to “unavoidable circumstances.” The board expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to candidates and assured them that corrective measures were being taken promptly.
CBSE also stepped in to address the confusion triggered by viral claims suggesting that the CTET exam had been cancelled entirely. The board made it clear that there is no nationwide cancellation and that the issue is strictly limited to two examination centres.
CTET Exam Cancelled? Here Is the Clear Answer
The short answer is no. The CTET exam has not been cancelled across India. CBSE confirmed that Paper 2 was conducted smoothly at more than 99 percent of centres.
Only candidates who were allotted the two affected centres in Vaishali district will have to appear for a re-examination. This clarification has effectively put an end to misinformation circulating on social media platforms.
List of Affected CTET 2026 Paper 2 Centres
CBSE has officially identified the two centres where the examination could not be conducted. Candidates allotted to these centres are the only ones impacted by the cancellation.
- 125016 – St. John’s Academy, Basmati Nagar
- 125014 – Lakshya International Academy
Re-Exam Confirmed Within 15 Days for Affected Candidates
CBSE has confirmed that a re-examination for CTET 2026 Paper 2 will be conducted within the next 15 days for candidates from the two Vaishali centres. The revised exam schedule will be communicated separately through official channels.
Candidates do not need to take any immediate action. CBSE has advised them to wait for formal communication regarding the new exam date, time, and instructions.
CTET Exam Schedule Unchanged for Other Candidates
This incident does not affect the overall CTET 2026 examination schedule. Paper 1 and Paper 2 examinations scheduled on 7 and 8 February are proceeding as planned for all other centres across the country.
Candidates who have already appeared for CTET 2026 at unaffected centres should note that their examinations remain valid and will not be impacted by this development.
Why CTET 2026 Is Not Cancelled Nationwide
CTET is a large-scale national eligibility test, and isolated centre-level disruptions are handled through re-examinations rather than mass cancellations. Since the examination was successfully conducted at 1,801 centres, CBSE has followed standard protocol by arranging a re-test only for the affected candidates.
This approach ensures fairness without compromising the integrity of the examination process or causing unnecessary disruption to lakhs of aspirants.
What Affected Candidates Should Do Next
CBSE will directly inform candidates about the revised examination schedule. Candidates from the two Vaishali centres are advised to:
- Wait for official communication from CBSE
- Avoid relying on social media rumours or unofficial sources
- Keep their admit card and registration details ready
- Regularly check the official CTET website for updates
