Delhi Govt. School: Finally, almost after two months of complete lockdown, the education sector across the country is slowly returning to normalcy. Students have been facing a lot of problems due to the implementation of the lockdown, and even the parents were struggling to ensure the continuation of their education. There is now a piece of important information for the students studying in Government schools of Delhi. The Directorate of Education (DoE), the Delhi Government has instructed all the government schools in the city to prepare a schedule for distributing the textbooks amongst the students. The books will be distributed under the Right to Education, RTE Act for students up to class 8th.
Due to the health threat posed by the Coronavirus pandemic, it has become essential for the schools to prepare a proper schedule for distributing the books while following the social distancing norms. Schools have been instructed to prepare a schedule that not only ensures social distancing but also allows parents of different students of different classes to come separately. Delhi School News: Government planning Steps Towards Normalcy
The notification issued by the Directorate of Education, Delhi Government to the government schools in the city, reads that “A proper schedule for distribution of books is to be prepared at the school level so that books that have been received by the schools till now are distributed immediately.”
The Education Minister of Delhi, Mr. Manish Sisodia recently stated that every school could not be treated as the same and the schools must deal with the issues by themselves. He interacted with the principals of the government schools and asked them to prepare a micro plan for re-opening their schools while following all the guidelines issued by the authorities. Delhi School News: Ensuring Continued Education a Priority
Ever since the nationwide lockdown came into effect on 25th March 2020, the schools across Delhi have been closed. The new academic session has already commenced from April, but no classroom sessions have been possible till now. This has forced the students to stay at their homes and continue their education using available online resources. But the results of this initiative were far from satisfactory, and as a result, the schools were instructed to appoint a co-ordinator to ensure the active participation of the students. While the government has asked the schools to prepare micro-plans for resuming their classroom sessions, there is still no confirmed date on which the schools will be re-opening. Delhi being amongst the cities with the highest number of Coronavirus patients, makes the matters even more complicated. It is being speculated that schools might not reopen before July or by when the Coronavirus situation normalizes.
