What is IBPS PO Exam Date 2026?

IBPS has officially announced the IBPS SO 2026 Exam Dates. The Preliminary Examination is scheduled to be held on 22nd and 23rd August 2026, while the Main Examination will take place on 4th October 2026. IBPS PO 2026 Eligibility

Before submitting the application form, candidates should ensure that they meet all the eligibility conditions specified in the IBPS PO Notification 2026. Applications of candidates found ineligible at any stage of the recruitment process are liable to be rejected. The detailed IBPS PO Eligibility Criteria are provided below.

Nationality

The applicant for applying for the exam can be:

1. A Citizen of India
2. The subject of Nepal or Bhutan
3. A Tibetan refugee who permanently settled in India before January 1, 1962
4. A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Burma, Vietnam, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania, Zaire, or Zambia, intending to reside in India permanently.

Educational Qualification

Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Government of India.

• Applicants must possess a valid mark sheet or degree certificate proving their graduate status on the day of registration and must provide the percentage of marks obtained in their graduation while registering for the IBPS Bank-PO exam.

Computer Literacy:

Proficiency in computer systems is essential both for the job and for taking the IBPS PO exam, which is conducted online.

There is no limit on the number of attempts for the IBPS PO Exam. Candidates can appear for the exam as many times as they want, as long as they meet the prescribed eligibility criteria, especially the age limit.

IBPS PO 2026 Selection Process

The Selection Process consists of four stages: Prelims, Mains, Personality Test, and Interview. Candidates must qualify at each stage to move to the next round.

Candidates must qualify both the Mains Exam and the Interview to be considered for final provisional allotment in participating banks.

IBPS PO 2026 Revised Exam Pattern

IBPS PO Prelims Exam Pattern

The Prelims comprises three sections, including English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability. A total of 100 questions are asked for 100 marks, with a duration of 60 minutes. There is a negative marking of -0.25 deducted for each incorrect attempt.

IBPS PO Mains Exam Pattern (Latest)

IBPS has slightly changed the Mains exam pattern. The marks allotted to the GA, English, and DI sections have been increased, and the total number of questions is now 170 (up from 145). The descriptive pattern remains the same.

Descriptive Test

Along with the Main examination, candidates will go through a descriptive test of 25 marks.

Note: The Descriptive Paper may be checked using a validated automated scoring system that evaluates candidates’ writing proficiency based on predefined writing quality parameters.

What are the Changes Made in Mains Exam Pattern?

The following changes have been made by IBPS in the Mains exam structure for PO post:

• The total number of objective questions has been increased from 145 to 170.
• The English Language section now includes more questions, but its maximum marks have been reduced from 40 to 20.
• Banking Awareness and Data Analysis & Interpretation now have greater weightage in the Mains Exam.

IBPS PO Salary 2026

The revised pay scale for IBPS PO is Rs. 48480-2000/7-62480-2340/2-67160-2680/7-85920. The basic pay starts from Rs. 48,480, and in addition to it, POs receive allowances such as DA, HRA, CCA, medical benefits, and other perks.

IBPS PO Probation Period

Selected candidates for the IBPS PO post will be placed on a 2-year probation period, during which they will receive practical training in different banking functions. Their work and overall performance will be assessed throughout the probation period before they are confirmed as permanent employees of the allotted bank.

IBPS PO 2026 Admit Card

IBPS will issue the IBPS PO 2026 admit card online for candidates who successfully submit their application forms. The call letter is expected to be released around 7–10 days before both the Preliminary and Main examinations.

Candidates can access and download their admit cards using their Registration Number/Roll Number and Password or Date of Birth. A printed copy of the admit card, along with a valid photo ID proof, must be carried to the examination centre.

IBPS PO Previous Year Cut Off Marks

The IBPS PO cut-off for Prelims is calculated out of 100 marks, while the Mains cut-off is calculated out of 225 marks. In the last year (2025), the minimum marks required to qualify for the prelims were 49.21 out of 100, and to qualify for the mains were 75.75. It is an achievable target, but it needs consistency and strategic preparation.
