FSSAI Syllabus 2021

FSSAI Syllabus 2021: Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, ensures the availability of safe, healthy and sustainable food for all Indian citizens through their “Eat Right India”  movement. FSSAI conducts recruitment drives for various posts to fulfil their purpose regarding maintaining the standard of food and its safety. The syllabus for various posts appointed by FSSAI is shared in this article. Read on to know more.

FSSAI Syllabus 2021- Exam Pattern

FSSAI is going to conduct CBT (Computer Based Test) for various posts released in FSSAI Recruitment 2021. The exam pattern for FSSAI consists of two parts:

  1. General Aptitude and Computer Literacy: General Intelligence, General Awareness, English Language.
  2. Functional Knowledge Test.

FSSAI Exam Pattern – Main Highlights

The main highlights of the FSSAI CBT exam are as follows:

  • There will be 120 MCQ questions in total.
  • The duration of the exam is 2 hours.
  • Marks assigned for each correct answer: 4.
  • Marks deducted for an incorrect answer: 1.
  • General Aptitude and Computer Literacy: 25% weightage.
  • Functional Knowledge Test: 75% weightage.

General Aptitude and Computer Literacy section will be common for most posts. The sections covered under the Functional Knowledge Test will be different for each post to some extent.

The FSSAI Syllabus and exam pattern for Assistant Director (Technical), Technical Officer is as follows:

  • Antonyms and Synonyms.
  • Spelling Errors,
  • Spotting Errors in Sentences.

Computer Literacy

Following topics will be covered under Computer Literacy section:

  • Working Knowledge of Computers.
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) including basic commands.
  • Google Docs.
  • Emails.
  • Commonly used social media handles will be tested (WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter) would be tested.

(B) Functional Knowledge Test

Functional Knowledge Test will cover the following topics:

  • Indian and International Food Laws.
  • FSSAI – Roles, Functions and Initiatives.
  • Principles of Food Preservation, Processing and Packaging.
  • Principles and Basics of Food Chemistry and their role in Human Nutrition.
  • Food Microbiology and General Principles of Food Hygiene.
  • General Concepts of Food Analysis and Testing.

  • Promoting Safe and Wholesome Food (Eat Right India, Food Fortification, Clean Street Food Hub, RUCO and other initiatives).
  • Overview of systems and processes in Standards, Enforcement, Laboratory Ecosystem, Imports, Third Party Audit.

Skill Test in Stenography: Candidates who have obtained qualifying marks in the exam will be called for Skill Test. The test pattern is as follows:

  • Dictation: 10 minutes in English/Hindi at the speed of 80 WPM.
  • Transcription on computer in English: 50 minutes.
  • Transcription on computer in Hindi: 65 minutes.

  • Library classification, information sources, services and users etc.

FSSAI Syllabus for Food Analyst

The FSSAI Syllabus of Food Analyst is as follows:

The duration of exam is 180 minutes. All questions will be subjective in nature.

FSSAI Syllabus 2021: FAQ’S

Q1. What is the general format of FSSAI Syllabus?

Ans. For most posts, FSSAI Syllabus is divided into two sections: General Aptitude and Functional Knowledge Test.

Q2. What is the weightage assigned for FSSAI Syllabus?

Ans. In FSSAI Syllabus, General Aptitude carries 25% weightage and Functional Knowledge Test carries 75% weightage.

Q3. Is there any negative marking scheme in FSSAI Exam Pattern?

Ans. Yes, there is negative marking scheme in FSSAI Exam Pattern. 1 mark is deducted for every incorrect answer.
