CLAT Seats 2026
There are 24 participating NLUs this year, and they together offer more than 5000 seats in UG (LLB) and PG (LLM) programs. CLAT 2026 Seats

As per the latest data released by the Consortium of National Law Universities, there are around 1551 seats (including foreign nationals and supernumerary seats) for LLM programs and 3864 CLAT seats (including foreign nationals and supernumerary seats) for undergraduate law programs. So, in total, there are 5415 seats available in UG (5-Year LLB) and PG (2-Year LLM) programs. CLAT Seats 2026 Reservation Categories
The NLU CLAT seats are allocated among several categories in accordance with the institute’s reservation policy. From the entire number of CLAT seats, the majority of colleges provide domicile reservations. This implies that fewer seats will be available for aspirants from all around India. In addition, reservations for OBC and SC/ST are made in CLAT.

CLAT 2026 Seat Allotment Process
Some of the key information regarding the CLAT 2026 seat allotment process is given below.
- In CLAT 2026, the seat allotment process will be don in three rounds.
- Candidates who receive an NLU allotment are required to pay a counseling fee of Rs. 30,000 in order to guarantee their place.
- Names of the allotted candidates will be struck from the CLAT 2026 merit list and his/her candidacy will be forfeited in case of failure to pay the counseling fee.
- NLUs do not return the amount deposited by the candidate against their seat allotment in the event that a withdrawal occurs after the designated date.
- The application cost is reimbursed to candidates who are on the waiting list but are unable to gain a seat because of availability.
- Candidates must report to the appropriate NLU upon final seat allocation, finish the admissions process by paying the outstanding fees, and provide original certifications.
CLAT 2026 State Quota Seats for LLB Program
The NLUs assign the available seats through a coordinated counselling process following the announcement of the CLAT 2026 results. In addition, there is a state quota for CLAT seats, which takes the form of domicile reservations for candidates from the state where a specific NLU is situated. CLAT Seats Allotment 2026
The allocation of seats for CLAT 2026 is carried out through a structured counseling procedure. Seat allocation is determined by the number of CLAT 2026 seats, scores in the CLAT entrance exam, and the quantity of applicants. The National Law Universities (NLUs) consortium will call for five times as many candidates as there are available seats for CLAT 2026. The counseling sessions will occur over five rounds. After the counseling process, colleges will fill the remaining seats on their own. Candidates will be assigned seats based on their list of preferences.
