PSU Recruitment through GATE
PSUs or Public Sector Undertakings are basically the government owned corporations. These organisations run like a private company but share their profits with respective Governments. Every year PSU recruits on the basis of GATE score for which notifications are released individually. Job aspirants or students who are looking for employment through GATE should check out the detail notification to know the eligibility, syllabus, cut-off and important dates to apply for the vacancies. PSUs start recruitment through GATE right after the registration for GATE starts. The candidates are required to apply as per their eligibility.
Direct recruitment through GATE scores
There are some PSUs which conduct the addition tests, group discussion or interviews for the recruitment while some PSUs offer direct recruitment based on the GATE scores. The top companies which conduct PSU recruitment through GATE are ONGC, Power grid, DRDO and more. The registration process for GATE was started on 31 August, 2019 and soon after this, PSU recruitment through GATE 2020 commenced. To be shortlisted for the job, the candidates have to use their valid GATE scorecard. GATE 2020 will be held on February 1, 2, 8 and 9.
GATE scores for PSU recruitment
All of the candidates are required t qualify GATE to become eligible to apply for job in the PSU. However, the PSUs which directly recruit through GATE scores release the cut-off. These specific scores are announced by each PSU that consider direct recruitment. Another important point about the PSU recruitment through GATE is that some PSUs consider only the present year’s GATE scores while few PSUs accepts recruitment on GATE scores of the previous year.
Types of PSUs in India
There are various parameters on the basis of which PSUs in India are classified. Mainly there are following PSUs:
- Maharatna PSUs (BHEL, GAIL, IOCL, SAIL and more)
- Navratna PSUs (BEL, Oil Indian Limited, Power Grid and more)
- Mini-ratna PSUs (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, PEC Limited, THDC India Limited and more)
These are classified on the basis of their global presence, annual revenue, income generated and listing on the Indian stock exchanges. These PSUs recruit through GATE scores. Some of them also conduct their own entrance examination to recruit candidates on various posts.
GATE cut off scores for PSU recruitment
The candidates now are more prepared to get the job. If you are preparing for the PSU’s job then you need to know what are the GATE cut-off scores for PSUs to be secured for recruitment. This will help the candidates to set their new targets for the preparations for PSU. The cut-off of GATE for all 25 papers individually is declared in online mode. The cut-off of GATE varies from subject to subject and is different for each category. Candidates can check the cut-off scores for the previous years through official website of GATE or educational websites. GATE cut-off is decided by the total number of applicants, total number of seats available, difficulty level of exam and performance of candidates. This is basically decided by the conducting authority, IIT in consultation with the other authorities.
Apply for PSU recruitment through GATE
GATE 2020 exam is conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). Before applying for the PSU recruitment through GATE, candidates are required to check all the eligibility criteria including age limit, percentage in academics and others as prescribed by the authorities.
As mentioned above, PSU recruitment through GATE is made available after commencement of online registration process of GATE 2020. PSUs have different fees which is required to pay by the candidates after filling the application form. There are prescribed formats of disability declaration form and caste declaration forms available on the GATE website so the applicants are required to download the forms in correct format to apply for the recruitment in PSUs.
Filling the GATE application form
Candidates are required to fill the application form with the correct information because the details once mentioned cannot be modified after final submission of the form. Candidates are also required to upload the scanned image of their photo and signature in the prescribed format and size. Candidates are also required to provide their GATE registration number while applying for PSU recruitment through GATE. This registration number is present on the GATE application form or Admit card. Candidates must enter the valid ID number mentioned in any one of the IDs like Passport, Voter’s card, PAN card, Driving license, Aadhar, Employee ID or College ID. GATE exam fees is also required to be submitted at the time of filling the application form and after payment of the fees, application form is finally submitted .
Check GATE results to apply for PSU recruitment
GATE results are available on the GATE online application processing system (GOAPS) website. GATE scorecard can be downloaded from GOAPS. No hardcopies of GATE scorecard are issued to the candidates and there is some time period only when the candidates can download their scorecard after announcement of the results. If any candidate wants to download the scorecard later then there is a need to pay a fee on GATE website. GATE score is valid for three years from the date of commencement of results. Therefore, candidates can keep on applying for PSUs for the three years with the same scorecard.
