CUET Eligibility Criteria 2025, Check Age Limit, Attempts, Educational Qualifications

The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is a significant entrance examination for admission to undergraduate degrees in Central, state, regional, and other CUET-participating institutes. CUET Eligibility Criteria

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will release CUET Eligibility Criteria 2025 on its official website along with the notification. The CUET Eligibility Criteria specify the minimum academic and personal conditions that students must meet in order to apply for the CUET UG exam. Candidates who do not meet the eligibility Criteria for the CUET 2025 will be disqualified. Although the eligibility requirements changed depending on the participating universities, the minimum eligibility criteria for CUET 2025 are that candidates have completed (or are currently completing) the 10+2 standard of education from a recognized board or university.

CUET Eligibility Criteria 2025

The National Testing Agency will hold the Common University Admissions Test – Undergraduate (CUET UG 2025) in the third week of May 2025. The Common University Entrance Test, or CUET, is a major changer in India’s higher education system, bringing admission processes from over 250 institutions (including national, state, deemed, private, and other universities) under a single umbrella. Candidates must meet the academic requirements and subject preferences for admission to their selected programmes.

CUET 2025 Eligibility Criteria

CUET UG Eligibility Criteria 2025

The National Testing Agency will release the eligibility criteria for the CUET 2025 exams at cuet.nta.nic.in along with the official notification. Students who meet the eligibility criteria must fill out an application form and pay an application fee to appear in the Exam. The official announcement has not yet been posted to the official website. Meanwhile, prospective students can review the CUET eligibility criteria from the previous year. Education Qualification for CUET 2025

To appear in the CUET 2025 exam, candidates must have the following educational qualifications:

  • Candidates must have a minimum of 50% in their Class 12 exams. Aspirants from the SC/ST category, on the other hand, must have 45% to be eligible for the exam.
  • Candidates must have completed 10+2 classes in the subjects relevant to their selected course. For example, if you chose the Bachelor of Science (Mathematics honours), you must have majored in Mathematics.
  • Candidates who did not pass all of their classes in Class 12 are ineligible for CUET 2025.

List of Qualifying Examinations (QE)

  1. The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized Central/ State Board, such as the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi; Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi; etc.
  2. Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University.
  3. Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy
  4.  Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
  5. Any Public School/ Board/ University examination in India or any foreign country is recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
  6. Higher Secondary Certificate Vocational Examination.
  7. A Diploma recognized by AICTE or a State board of technical education of at least 3 years duration.
  8. General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
  9. High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.
  10.  Candidates who have completed the Class 12 (or equivalent) examination outside India or from a Board not specified above should produce a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) to the effect that the examination they have passed is equivalent to the Class 12 Examination.
  11.  In case the Class 12 Examination is not a public examination, the candidate must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination earlier.

Year of Appearance in Qualifying Examination

For the year of appearance in the Class 12 / equivalent examination, relevant conditions of Universities / Institutions (as applicable) will be applied. The candidate must ensure his eligibility from the website of respective Universities / Institutions.

Eligibility for CUET 2025: Nationality

  • To appeare in the Exam, the Candidate must be a citizen of India.
  • Candidates who are Nepalese, Bhutanese, or Tibetan citizens who sought shelter in India before January 1, 1962, with the goal of making India their permanent home and residing there permanently.
  • Individuals who have permanently relocated to India from Pakistan, Burma (Myanmar), Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire (Democratic Republic of the Congo), Ethiopia, and Vietnam.

Age Limit for CUET UG Exam

The CUET Exam has no minimum or maximum age requirement to appear in the Exam. Candidates must meet the educational prerequisites in order to take the exam.However, the candidates will be required to fulfill the age criteria (if any) of the University / Institution /Organization in which they are desirous of taking admission.

Number of Attempts in CUET UG 2025

There is no limit to how many attempts a candidate may make. Aspirants can take the exam as many times as they want as long as they meet the other eligibility requirements.

CUET Eligibility Requirements Institution-wise

Candidates must have passed Class 12 or any comparable test appearing in 2025 to be eligible for the CUET UG examination. The CUET eligibility requirements may vary depending on the institution and course. The CUET eligibility criteria 2025 of participating universities defines the reservation, quota, subject combinations, and prerequisites that are applicable for admissions through CUET. Any candidate who does not meet the qualifying conditions may be eliminated in the later stages. CUET Reservation Policy 2025

According to the Government of India’s guidelines, a fixed number of seats are allocated for Indian nationals in various reserved categories. CUET is a national-level entrance exam for undergraduate admissions at more than 250+ universities in India. However, in the case of Central Universities, and each participating university must adhere to the standard norms of reservation policy established by the Government of India.   • To be eligible for PwD reservations, you must have a Physical Disability certificate (Unique Disability Identification (UDID) Certificate) issued by a certified medical authority.
